More than 900 full-time faculty create a dynamic and inclusive learning community for 17,500 students from all 50 states and 66 countries.

National Recognition

Recognition of Wright State University's success is increasing every year among the national rankings reports used by families to evaluate and make their college choices.

Wright State has landed on every significant list published annually for college-bound students by national magazines.

For the fourth consecutive year, Wright State University was named in 2013 to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

The Honor Roll recognizes higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities.

In Ohio, only 27 schools made the honor, with six being named with distinction.


"Best in Business," The Princeton Review

The Raj Soin College of Business was named among the best business schools in the nation by The Princeton Review, winning the honor for the fifth year in a row. The Princeton Review listed the college as among the best 295 in its 2014 edition. It followed similar honors in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.


"Best in Education," U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Wright State University’s online Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction as No. 31 in the nation among online graduate education programs.

The U.S. News ranking in its Best Graduate Schools 2015 edition made Wright State’s College of Education and Human Services’ online program among the top-ranked programs in Ohio. A total of 60 institutions were ranked.

"Best in Nursing," U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report ranked Wright State University’s online Master of Nursing degree as among the best online graduate education programs in the nation in 2013.

In its Best Graduate Schools 2014 edition, U.S. News ranked Wright State’s College of Nursing and Health program 38th. It is the top-ranked program in Ohio and ahead of well-known universities such as Michigan State, Ohio State and Georgetown. A total of 101 institutions were surveyed.

"Best Doctors Honor," Best Doctors in America

Twenty-six Wright State Physicians and faculty of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine were named to the 2013 Best Doctors® in America list.

They represented almost a third of the 81 Dayton area doctors named. Eight Boonshoft School of Medicine alumni who practice locally also were included on the list.

"Military Friendly School," Military Advanced Education, Victory Media

Military Advanced Education (MAE) and Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, both named Wright State to their Top Military Friendly Schools list for 2014. It was the fifth consecutive year Wright State received the respective recognitions.

Victory Media honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

Wright State was also named No. 13 in the nation in the 2013 Best for Vets: Colleges survey, which ranks schools by their efforts to accommodate military veterans and active-duty service members.


"Social Media Ranking," LibraryScienceList.com

Wright State University Libraries was ranked No. 96 in the nation in 2013 by LibraryScienceList.com for the libraries’ use of social media.

The organization evaluated 442 college and university libraries for how well they actively used social media to promote library events, notify students of new materials or interact with patrons in other ways.


"International Visitors Honor," National Council for International Visitors

Wright State was named a full member of the acclaimed National Council for International Visitors (NCIV), a State Department program that enables the university to host emerging leaders from around the world for cultural and intellectual exchange.


"Model UN Team Honor," National Model United Nations Conference

Wright State University’s Model UN team continued its remarkable streak at the National Model United Nations Conference, receiving the highest recognition possible at the 2013 competition for the 35th year in a row.

Competing against 149 universities around the world, Wright State was one of 20 colleges to receive Outstanding Delegation recognition

"America's Best Colleges," U.S. News and World Report

For the fourth year in a row, Wright State is among 260 Best National Universities listed in the annual "America's Best Colleges" rankings by U.S. News and World Report.

The exclusive "America's Best Colleges" edition features the established rankings of the Best National Universities, Best Liberal Arts Colleges, and Best Historically Black Colleges, among other lists. The key factors used to measure quality are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving, and graduation rate performance.


"America's Best Colleges," Forbes

Forbes magazine ranked Wright State as the leading four-year institution in the Dayton area in its "America's Best Colleges" rankings.

Forbes' second-annual list, compiled with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, ranked the top 15 percent of more than 4,000 undergraduate institutions in the nation from the students' point-of-view.

Rankings were based on a variety of factors, including student satisfaction with instruction, post-graduate employment success, the likelihood of graduating within four years and the average amount of student loan debt.

For the fourth year in a row, Wright State was named among one of the "Best in the Midwest" colleges by The Princeton Review, which cited the school’s challenging academic experience and personal attention to students.

In its annual college ratings, the education services company listed Wright State in its 2011 Best Colleges: Region by Region. It took into account colleges’ academic programs and what the students attending the schools reported about their experiences.

The Princeton Review's special annual issue Best Colleges: Region by Region focuses on 623 of the best colleges in four regions: the Northeast, West, Southeast and Midwest. Academics, quality of life and extracurricular activities were among the categories included in the unbiased and uncensored survey given to students and their parents.


One of Nation's Top Disability-Friendly Schools, College Success for Students with Physical Disabilities

According to College Success for Students with Physical Disabilities by Chris Wise Tiedemann, Wright State and four other schools go above and beyond the rest in making independent living possible, offering the most supportive environments for students with serious physical disabilities to live on campus.

With support from the Spencer Foundation, the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is studying institutions with patterns of improved performance over several years on measures of effective educational practice. Out of 563 institutions with sufficient multi-year data, 120 identified as having improvement trends were invited to respond to a short questionnaire about the observed changes. Based in part on its improvement on a wide range of measures, Wright State University was one of the eight institutions selected for detailed site visits to gain an in-depth understanding of how they affect positive change.

 “Best in Aerospace Engineering,” National Research Council

The National Research Council ranked Wright State University’s Ph.D. program in aerospace engineering as the best in Ohio. The 2010 rankings put Wright State’s program over those at Ohio State and the University of Cincinnati.

Wright State’s Ph.D. program in biomedical sciences was ranked third in Ohio, trailing only those at Ohio State and the University of Toledo.

The rankings are based on such things as research activity, student support and outcomes, diversity, published works and citations, enrollment and number of faculty. The National Research Council is the working arm of the United States National Academies, which informs the public, helps shape policies, and advances the pursuit of science, engineering and medicine.
