Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginiaâ™s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Student Life Specialist will manage the daily operations of the Reynolds Community College gymnasium located on the Parham Road Campus; and assist students by providing information, guidance, and oversight in the areas of intramural programs, non-credit wellness classes and other recreational, health and wellness activities, student life programs and student activities. This position will make and post gymnasium hours of operations in coordination with School of Health Professions personnel; keep daily record of student gym usage; plan the recreation and wellness classes (Zumba, Boot Camp, Line Dancing, etc.); assist in planning other recreation and wellness events and activities for Reynolds students, faculty, and staff (i.e. rafting, biking, hiking, etc.).
Working knowledge of student development programs, student activities and recreation and wellness programs.
Demonstrated ability to advise students and provide a high level of customer service to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs, activities and services.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and to establish positive working relationships with faculty, staff and administrators.
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
High school diploma or equivalent.
The selected candidate must be able to pass the collegeâ™s pre-employment security screening.
