The JHBC Professional Writing Office is open to both graduate and undergraduate students who seek to improve their writing in general and specifically hone in on business writing skills. We tutor students across the disciplines in all stages of the writing process, but focus primarily in writing associated with business.
The Professional Writing Office (PWO) Student Services Professional IA will:
Work one-on-one with students to improve writing skills and help them reach their educational goals in relation to graduation and future job placement.
Offer tutoring in soft skills and how to present oneself in a professional manner both in writing and verbally.
Extend a helping hand to students who are struggling in their written assignments and retain those students.
Serve as the lead tutor in the PWO and address any computer-related issues with our scheduling systemthis is a system that produces a disproportionate number of glitches.
Partake in administrative activities including, but not limited to, interviewing candidates, on-boarding and training new-hires, setting up office system, creating marketing material for office, generating reports for faculty and the College Office, virtual classroom visits, interacting and helping faculty when asked and coordinating the PWO when the Faculty Director is teaching or completing other required university tasks.
Employment Status: Part-time, temporary, 'non-exempt' position (with the possibility of converting to permanent).
First Review Deadline: The initial review of applications will begin on September 3, 2021.
Part-time (10-15 hours/week): Monday through Friday between 8:00 am & 5:00 pm.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job?related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year?for?year basis.
Prior tutoring experience
Knowledge of business writing practices
Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,513 per month (adjusted based on the amount of hours worked)
Classification Salary Range: $3,513 - $4,298 per month
