The interdisciplinary Mathematical, Computational and Systems Biology graduate programs are administered within the Center for Complex Biological Systems, an Organized Research Unit.In close collaboration with the School of Biological Sciences.The goal of UCI's program in Mathematical, Computational and Systems Biology (MCSB) is to provide students from a variety of educational backgrounds with Ph.D. training suitable for research careers in the field of Systems Biology.The program emphasizes in-depth classroom study, interdisciplinary research rotations and individualized advising.
Your Role on the Team
Using skills as a seasoned, experienced student services professional, provides the full range of student services for the Mathematical, Computational, and Systems Biology graduate program within the School of Biological Sciences. Independently advises students and resolves student services-related issues on the full range of academic issues inherent within the program. Advises faculty and management on a variety of student issues. Works with the program and the school's management to recommend changes to policies, practices, and procedures. Guidance on issues requiring in-depth knowledge of specialized programs is provided by offices specializing in those fields, e.g., the financial aid office, graduate division, or student learning center, OR by the chair / dean and faculty of the department / school / college. Administers funds for student programs. Initiates transactions on UC-specific systems as needed.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $58,600 - $ $66,000.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Preferred:
Working knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Knowledge of complex U.S. visa and immigration procedures, compliance issues, and employment eligibility / authorization for international students and scholars.
1-3 years Previous working knowledge of administration policies, procedures and practices, preferably at an academic institution.
