The new Vice President of Instruction and Student Affairs will play a pivotal role in helping NIC reach President Swayne's short-term and long-term goals regarding accreditation, enrollment, and community engagement.
Accreditation: The new Vice President of Instruction and Student Affairs will be at the forefront of NIC's efforts to prepare faculty and staff for the NWCCU mid-cycle review scheduled on April 17-18, 2023. This person will also help maintain individual program accreditation from independent accrediting bodies for dozens of established NIC programs and facilitate accreditation efforts for new NIC programs.
Enrollment: Facing demographic shifts, economic changes, and significant regional growth, the successful candidate will help lead short-term and long-term efforts to increase enrollment and improve retention while responding to the needs of both students and the regional economy.
Community Engagement: In joining NIC during a period of change and new leadership, the new Vice President of Instruction and Student Affairs will be a prominent and impactful figure for the NIC campus and for the community at large. North Idaho College drives innovation, builds connections, and creates opportunities for the community at every level from top leadership to lab assistants.
Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates a passion for and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
Oversees programs and develops initiatives to ensure student success.
Serves as chief academic officer by overseeing the college's educational program and prioritizing student success, quality programming, and fiscal responsibility.
Supports the college's strategic and master plans, including enrollment management initiatives and innovations in programs and methods of delivery.
Ensures that the activities of Instruction and Student Services meet the requirements of the college's accrediting and licensing agencies.
Ensures that the college offers an inclusive environment that celebrates and promotes understanding and respect within a diverse student body, staff, and community.
Leads and directs college-wide processes for curriculum development and reviews new program development.
Supports participatory governance and effective communications with employees and students by working closely with all constituency groups.
Represents the college at local, state, regional, and national meetings and serves as an active participant and college spokesperson in community and civic organizations, as well as a collaborative partner with other institutes of higher education and high schools.
