The Counseling Services office seeks an in-person Mental Health Counselor, to provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, case management, consultation, and outreach programming support on our Manchester campus. The Mental Health Counselor works directly with graduate and professional level students in accelerated healthcare programs and provides consultation to faculty and staff in identifying and supporting the social and emotional needs of their students and the larger campus community. This is a part-time, 12-month position.
Clinical: 75% • Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention and case management services via in-person and telehealth sessions. • Provide crisis assessment and intervention, community outreach and psycho-educational programs. • Assist with mental health related leave of absence and post-hospitalization processes for students in concert with Student Affairs to support their successful return to the campus community and academic programs. • Maintain clinical notes, monthly statistics, necessary clinical documentation, administrative forms, and electronic records in accordance with department policy. • Requires an understanding of the educational, developmental, cultural, and social needs of a diverse student population comprised of domestic and international students. • Collaborate with fellow Counseling Services staff on centralization efforts to ensure that services, policies, and procedures remain equitable and consistent across campuses and implement Quality Improvement initiatives. • Contributes to sustaining and enhancing an inclusive working and learning environment.
Outreach and Programming: 20% • Develop and deliver campus wide mental health outreach programming and education to include active and passive initiatives and content. • Participate in individual and group supervision regularly as well as staff training and retreats.
Student Affairs Duties (5%) • Participate in University-wide committees and programming/events such as Orientation, Open Houses, Commencement, and other events as requested. • Maintain knowledge related Title IX, FERPA and HIPPA regulations and response protocol. • Assist with clinical support and travel to other campuses as needed. • Other duties as assigned.
Required: • Minimum of Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field. • Current licensure as LICSW, LMHC or equivalent through the State of New Hampshire. • Two plus years experience directly relevant to individual counseling and crisis management. • Experience working with diverse populations including an understanding of the educational, cultural and social needs of an international student community. • Ability to work extensively with electronic health records and MS Outlook. • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with members of the college community. • Excellent written and oral communication skills, possess ability to organize and prioritize tasks, tolerate interruptions to workflow and adapt to sudden shift in clinical demands. • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Preferred: • Experience directly relevant to providing services on a college campus. • Prior experience with delivering telehealth services. • Experience supervising and training clinical staff or interns.
Physical Requirements: • Ability to work on campus in person and occasional travel to other campuses.
