Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide Accessibility, Community Standards and Student Well-Being services to the College community. The Student Development Specialist serves as an advocate for issues regarding students with disabilities to ensure equal access; provides services that promote access to the campus community; provides consultation and disability awareness to the campus community regarding academic accommodations, compliance with legal responsibilities, as well as instructional, programmatic, physical, and curriculum modifications; works directly with a cohort of students from connection to completion to develop a plan for the provision of approved academic accommodations and academic success; uses a service delivery model that encourages students with disabilities to develop independence; serves as a member of our Student Intervention and Prevention team to present students exhibiting concerning behavior with appropriate resources and referrals; and assists with program evaluation and the assessment of student learning outcomes.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education:
Masters degree
Required Experience:
Minimum of three years of work experience in a related field required
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of relevant disability, accessibility, privacy laws and promising practices
Proficient using microsoft office applications
Proficiency with student information management systems
Experience using learning management systems
Proficient using Accommodate by Symplicity or similar systems
Experience conducting assessments of student learning outcomes
