The Assistant Softball Coach is responsible for assisting in the oversight and coordination of the softball program. The Assistant Softball Coach will monitor and support academic performance of student athletes and is committed to assisting the Department of Athletics in enhancing and supporting the student development experience consistent with the mission of Dominican university.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to NCAA, conference, and Dominican University rules and regulations.
Identify and recruit academically and athletically qualified candidates to maintain the roster range.
Assist in managing the operating budget and agency account for the program.
Contribute to the development of a competitive schedule.
Monitor and support the academic performance of student-athletes.
Assist in the coordination of team travel and meal arrangements.
Collaborate with the Athletics Business Manager to meet team transportation needs.
Assist with purchasing, distributing, collecting, and inventory team uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
Support team fundraising efforts.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Assist the sports information director with game day needs.
Assist with special events such as Hall of Fame inductions, end-of-year sports awards ceremony, and Homecoming.
Serve on the Homecoming Committee.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Previous coaching experience required
Familiarity with NCAA Division III Rules and Regulations
Experience in a variety of technologies, including the Microsoft Office suite tools
Strong organizational and written skills
Ability to function in a growing environment
Strong collaborative abilities
Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student body
Role modeling
Ability to work graciously with various groups of people
Ability to work evenings and weekends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in a related field
Previous collegiate coaching experience
Physical Demands:
Ability to spend long durations of the workday standing, walking, and demonstrating athletic activities.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
Salary: $51,000 annually
FLSA Status: Exempt, 37.5 hours
