The Highlights: As part of the Office of Student Involvement at DePaul University, the Loop Coordinator for Campus Activities provides leadership and direction for activities and events at the Loop campus. These activities and events strategically enhance campus life and student engagement to build community, connectedness and student learning at DePaul. The Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of Student Involvement at the Loop within the Division of Student Affairs. This position will advise the Loop Life Programming Team, lead event development efforts in planning and execution of campus traditions and affinity building programs, and other student involvement experiences. This position is responsible for the development, management, execution and evaluation of university-wide programs sponsored by the Office of Student Involvement at the Loop campus.
What You'll Do:
- Plan and execute a robust co-curricular experience for Loop students. This will include planning and executing 2-5 events a week at DePaul's downtown campus. Lead efforts to plan and execute Loop-specific campus traditions & affinity programs, which includes events like Welcome Week events, the Cookie Stroll, Duck Day, and other campus traditions. While some events and experiences will be planned independently by the Coordinator for Loop Campus Activities, this position will also advise the Loop Life Programming Team- a group of students that will design, plan, and execute programs that contribute to creating a robust co-curricular experience at the Loop.
- Collaborate with Loop-based colleges and departments to create events and experiences in all buildings and spaces on DePaul's Loop campus. This includes (but is not limited to) the College of Business, College of Communication, College of Computing and Digital Media, Career Center, University Libraries, Student Center, and more.
- Work in tandem with other members of OSI's Lincoln Park-based Campus Activities Team to plan and execute events at the same time on both campuses, such as the Welcome Back Ice Cream Social, the Gnome Hunt, Donuts with Demons, BDC Central, and more
- Supervise and advise 5-7 student staff.
- Collaborate on various Student Involvement, divisional and university committees and projects.
- Supervise various teams of undergraduate student employees/interns.
- Responsible for a budget totaling up to $250,000.
- Responsible for negotiation of contracts up to $10,000.
What You'll Need:- Bachelors degree required
- At least one to two years of professional experience advising college students and organizations and working with diverse populations required (two years of graduate experience will equate to one year of professional experience).
- Experience with planning campus events or working with a programming board strongly preferred.
- Budget management experience preferred.
- Experience supervising others preferred.
- Masters degree in student affairs, higher education, college student personnel, counseling or related field preferred.
- Ability to facilitate leadership development and conversations with student leaders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to engage collaboratively with departmental team and university areas.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students and colleagues in writing, verbally, and in presentations.
- Ability to develop professional relationships and engage collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and university partners.
- Ability to plan large-scale events with attention to detail and multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to develop effective training sessions and modules for large groups of student leaders.
