The Residential Life department at the College of Saint Benedict invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit eligible position of Assistant Director of Residential Life.
In support of the four-year residential experience at the College of Saint Benedict, the Assistant Director of Residential Life is responsible for leading the department?s housing operations functions, including facilitating multi-step room assignment processes for new and returning students, supporting professional and paraprofessional staff in the department to resolve student issues, and liaising with campus partners to support assignments, room changes, and facilities. The Assistant Director has primary responsibility for all campus housing facilities and operations including issues related to renovations, new construction, repairs and technology. The Assistant Director also develops departmental web and print materials and manages policies and procedures for operational aspects of the department. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students, the Assistant Director is an integral part of the Residential Life leadership team, participating in strategic and long-range planning for both the department and the student development division.
Serving approximately 1300 women residents in six residence halls and 13 campus apartment buildings, the Residential Life staff includes a director, assistant director, five live-in residence directors, 40 paraprofessional resident assistants and community advisors, and 8-9 student office assistants. Professional staff members build close connections with students through daily interactions, campus events, and community involvement.

Coordinate and maintain the housing management system (StarRez) required to ensure an effective housing assignments process for multiple stakeholders including students, parents, Residential Life & Housing staff, Business Office (Student Accounts), Student Accessibility Services, and Physical Plant/Facilities.
Coordinate and implement room assignment and room selection process.
Coordinate and implement move-in/move-out processes and communicate to internal and external stakeholders.
Facilitate key/card access management processes and procedures.
Manage student housing billing processes with internal stakeholders.
Supervise 8-9 student employees who work in the central office and staff the front desk.
Serve as a member of the Residential Life leadership team to provide strategic planning, budget management, policy development and program development for the residential life program.
Serve as a member of the administrative on-call duty schedule throughout the year.
Identify, respond to, and resolve maintenance issues occurring in residential areas in collaboration with Facilities personnel.
Coordinate internal and external departmental communication across multiple media including web, print and electronic formats, to reach current and prospective students, families, and faculty/staff audiences.
Analyze student enrollment patterns to determine the impact on campus housing and recommend options for eligibility criteria and future housing plans.
Assist in the preparation of the residential auxiliary budget and other reports in support of institutional planning and priorities including the 10th day occupancy and annual housing facility needs reports.
Serve as a resource to students, families, faculty and staff in responding to inquiries and concerns and resolving issues associated with room assignments and facility issues.
Represent the institution in matters related to housing and residential life in a variety of forums, including work with admission, academic affairs, alumnae, parent groups, community organizations and college committees.
Bachelor?s degree.
Proficiency in housing operations or facilities management.
Demonstrated experience in budgeting.
Experience with housing management software. Preference given to candidates who have demonstrated knowledge and experience with StarRez.
Strong communication, organization, and human relation skills.
Commitment to maintaining a high level of competence and professionalism.
Ability to exercise discreet judgment and confidentiality are expected at this level of responsibility.
Must be available for evening, weekend, and holiday work as required.
Regular work hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. ? 4:30 p.m. but at certain points in the year, position requires some evening and weekend hours.
