The CUNY Language Immersion Program (CLIP) is an intensive English language program for incoming college students with native languages other than English. CLIP students need to increase their academic proficiency in reading, writing, and college skills prior to enrollment in college credit classes. The CUNY Office of Academic Affairs works collaboratively with nine CUNY campuses with CLIP on site to provide students with an innovative approach to English language learning. Reporting to the campus CLIP Director, the CLIP Program Specialist participates in executing the program???s daily operations and logistics. The program specialist manages the new student intake and with academic advisement, recruitment/outreach, and other activities to enable successful program enrollment, completion, college transition, and matriculation. The specialist also works with the CLIP director in purchasing books, materials, and other items for the program, bookkeeping, payroll, and data reporting. The CLIP program specialist also supervises the office College Assistants and Computer Laboratory Technicians.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist the director with budget planning.
Provide academic and college success advice.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on students' Academic participation and progress.
Manage the onboarding process for College Assistants
Update and review the BCC Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid offices.
Communicate with the CUNY Central Office.
Coordinate testing for the CLIP exams
Collaborate with the BCC Testing Office for CLIP students to take CUNY examinations.
Work with the CLIP counselor and CLIP Director to plan Financial Aid and college related workshops
Attend on-campus and University meetings and training sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor???s degree and four year???s related experience required.
Successful candidates will also have the following core competencies:
?? Detailed- Oriented with strong organizational skills and an ability to multi-task while under pressure.
?? Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
?? CUNY First and/or web-based database experience highly preferred
?? Experience working linguistically, culturally, and academically diverse students;
?? Experience adult English language learners preferred
?? Experience in academic advisement and/or career advising with diverse student populations
?? Bilingual proficiency highly preferred
?? Commitment to excellent customer service
?? Supervisory experience preferred
?? Bookkeeping experience preferred
?? Experience in collaborative settings preferred
?? Strong work ethic and ability to work with the utmost professionalism and discretion
