The Culinary Service department at the College of Saint Benedict invites applications for a full-time (.75 FTE), benefit-eligible position of Retail Supervisor.
The Retail Supervisor will supervise the McGlynn’s retail and concession operation by providing direction, support and training to student and staff ensuring the highest level of guest satisfaction and experience. They will assist in improvement of customer satisfaction and implementing new processes. The Retail Supervisor will also assist in ensuring a safe, efficient, and economical management of food and beverages within the operation. This position will assist in building a strong student leadership team and student staff. This position is also responsible for recruiting employees for Culinary Service throughout the school year.

Responsibilities
Supervise, monitor and direct the day-to-day operations of the retail operation and concessions, giving hands on support during peak hours. In the absence of a manager acts as the Manager on Duty.
Welcomes and extends hospitality to all guests and staff. Solicits feedback, responds to inquiries, and concerns from students, faculty, staff, and guests.
Ensure a student development approach in the supervision of student employees, with a goal of preparing them for leadership positions. Daily tasks typically include a breakdown of employee training and supervision, customer service and food production.
When manager on duty, responsible for updates to the staff schedule(s) due to unexpected and unplanned absences ensuring the most successful operation to the best of our ability.
Monitors staff compliance with the state, local, departmental and institutional policies, procedures and standards. Address safety concerns with staff member. Report safety concerns to management and find solutions to diminish the reoccurrence.
Works with guests with special diet requests.
Assist in the overseeing of effective, efficient planning, management and supervision of food preparation and food service.
Responsible for safe and effective supervision of cleaning, sanitizing and routine maintenance of tools, equipment, and facilities during scheduled shift.
Assist in the accurate management of cash transactions while following all cash-handling procedures.
Assist with any other duties delegated by the Retail Manager’s.
Submits work orders as necessary.
Provide support in other areas of the Culinary Services Department.
High School Diploma/GED required
9-12 months related experience or equivalent training in a college or other high-volume food service/restaurant preferred.
ServSafe Certification is preferred. Successful candidates will be required to complete ServSafe Certification within one year of employment.

Ability to stand temperature fluctuation and perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as standing, walking, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping and handling of materials.
