Position Summary:
The UCI School of Education is focused on advancing educational sciences and contributing to improved educational opportunities and outcomes for individuals across the entire lifespan. The University of California Irvine's Center for Educational Partnerships (CFEP) creates collaborations that support preparation for and success in higher education. Our focus is on equity and access for all students in order to achieve the University of California's goal of academic excellence. The UCI K-16 Education Collaborative Pathways Program (ECPP) intends to strengthen education-to-workforce pathways by working in partnership with community colleges and K-12 partners to address the income, racial, and gender inequalities in education and employment. The UCI K-16 ECPP is intended to create a streamlined pathway to and through high school, community college, and onto a UC in the fields of Business, Education, Engineering, and Healthcare. UCI will leverage its existing program models and structures to benefit students. Program models include the UCI Early ID and Transfer Prep programs, UC Scout, UC Dual Admission pilot program, and the Gateway Scholars program. Through collaborative partnerships, tailored programming, and enriching opportunities, ECPP strives to cultivate equitable and sustainable support services for students who are historically underrepresented and underserved navigating the many stages of education and career
Responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of a component of an academic preparation program. Establishes new organizational relationships with K-14 and higher education institutions. Assignments require advanced knowledge of highly complex or technical information. May have supervisory responsibility.
Seven years of experience or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated, progressive, and substantial student affairs professional experience and/or direct community involvement with organizations that support college preparation.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements. Advanced knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population. Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple critical projects with deadlines. Strong project management skills.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts. Ability to develop outreach programs, and design effective materials. Strong interpersonal skills. Leadership and supervisory skills. Knowledge of state and national education policies and current education theories. Ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives..
Advanced knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first generation and urban youth. Advanced knowledge of up-to-date information on K-12 and higher education policies and issues. Ability to assess their impact on program strategies. Advanced knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid and scholarship requirements, and matriculation processes.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of K-12 and higher education policies and issues, assesses their impact on program strategies, disseminates information to school-site and district personnel.
Comprehensive experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers. High-level skills in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
Preferred:
Master's degree preferred.
