Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia â“ principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks a Student Success Advisor to oversee the Great Expectations Program. The Student Success Advisor will manage a caseload of Great Expectations students, all of whom are currently in or have been in the foster care system, using a case management approach to help them achieve their academic and career goals.The Student Success Advisor will also provide comprehensive support and intervention services for all students each semester and connect them to tutoring, coaching, and other support services that promote retention and completion.The Student Success Advisor will work with new and current students who are struggling academically and who face other barriers to success. The Student Success Advisor will also work with students referred by the early alert system, provide support to the Director of Student Success and Retention, and work with the staff providing academic support services.The position will report to the Director of Student Success and Retention in the Student Services Division.Responsibilities:Provide case management services to 20-30 Great Expectations students, including providing direct advising, referrals to PVCC support services, as well as data tracking and reporting.Design and implement programming to increase the retention and completion rates of Great Expectations students.Represent the PVCC Great Expectations Program at events and recruiting activities.Provide services to students who have been referred to the early alert program and follow up with students as needed on enrollment, attendance, and other student success issues.Assist and support the Director of Student Success and Retention in implementing programs designed to increase retention and graduation rates.Serve as liaison with teaching faculty for at-risk students identified through the early alert system.Connect students with college resources such as tutoring, academic coaching, accessibility accommodations, veteransâ™ services, and community/financial resources as needed.Develop and explore academic and career goals with students and create individual advising and student success plans.
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
