Will be a member of a collaborative team responsible for prevention, education, and training related to: alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health and other wellness-related initiatives for the Northeastern University student community. The role includes assisting in implementing comprehensive, research-driven, socio-culturally relevant, and in-depth prevention programming to create long-lasting change for the campus community. This position will focus on the topics of alcohol and other drugs and mental health/wellness.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in social work, counseling or related field and independent licensure or working towards independent licensure strongly preferred
Experience working with young adults or college-aged population
Experience working with diverse groups including, BIPOC and LGBTQ individuals, international populations, and other under-represented populations.
Strong organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience communicating with college-aged individuals on matters related to alcohol and other drugs, mental health, and/or other wellness-related topics
Sophisticated understanding of how intersectionality, privilege, and socioeconomic status relate to issues around alcohol/other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health mental health and wellness.
Strong presentation skills
Responsibilities Include:
Provide alcohol and other drug services utilizing motivational interviewing and BASICS, an evidence based brief alcohol and screening intervention for college students
Facilitate customized presentations to students, faculty and staff on topics related to alcohol and other drugs, mental health, wellness, sexual health and sexual violence prevention
Oversee alcohol and other drug programming, events and workshops, including Alcohol Awareness Month
Support development of mental health programs, such as training for students, staff and faculty on mental health response
Facilitate weekly alcohol psycho-educational groups for mandated students
Conduct community outreach through programming and educational materials
Utilize best practices and research to create alcohol and other drug campaigns for the Northeastern community
Provide supervision and training to graduate assistants and work-study students, as needed
Support general department and university mission and initiatives, such as presenting at orientation sessions.
