General Statement of Duties
The Director of Advising and SUCCESS (Supporting Urgent Community College Equity through Student Services)plans, organizes, manages, and provides direction, oversight and training for all functions and activities of academic advising at the college. The Director is responsible for providing effective administrative leadership fostering student-centered, equity-minded, and data-informed collegial environment. Managing the College's SUCCESS Scholar Program, the Director is tasked with ensuring the College is providing students with wraparound support and services while initiating and facilitating collaboration with members of the college community to support students. Assisting with furthering the student success mission of the college, the Director also shares responsibility for developing college policies pertaining to academic advising , and for assisting faculty and staff in providing excellence in advising throughout the student lifecycle in support of the College's student success mission. The Director must use various technologies to support student development throughout the enrollment lifecycle toward graduation/transfer/career.
Responsibilities
Promote a positive work environment that encourages free exchange of ideas and empowers staff and student development.
Establish and facilitate departmental goals and objectives that are student-centered, equity-informed and data-minded to enhance the effectiveness and integration of advising services for new and continuing students.
Collaborate with Admissions, Academic Deans, Satellite Campuses, and Records Office to identify student trends and course scheduling options to ensure advising and registration for new and continuing students be data-driven and aligned with MWCC Strategic Plan.
Oversee and manage all advising and registration services.
Collaborate with all divisions to deliver advising and registration programming for new and continuing students, including accepted student registration events, transfer events, and SUCCESS workshops.
Responsible for the timely assignment of academic advisors to MWCC students each semester and overseeing the advisor assignment process as prescribed by college policy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Provide strategic vision, aligning departmental goals with institutional strategic plans.
Ensure student records and institutional advising practices comply with local and federal policy and guidelines.
Conduct assessment process of cross-functional campus advising services with stakeholders from all divisions.
Develop and implement campus-wide advisor professional development opportunities.
Ensure adherence to established registration policies for international students on F1 visas.
Oversee the coordination and train in the use of Advising technology, including support and maintenance of DegreeWorks, Advisor Link, and retention software (TargetX).
Collaborate with the Academic and College Deans in on-going assessment of the College's advising and retention practices at all campuses. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent advising practices campus-wide.
Coordinate planning and evaluation activities [of what?] and oversee reports, program reviews, outreach, and continuing student calling campaigns to inform strategic planning.
.Responsible for oversight of the advising website, TEAMS all-advisor group, and Blackboard shells for college-wide advising best practices and training information.
Supervision
Supervise professional and administrative staff including academic and SUCCESS counselors and coordinators, transfer coordinator and administrative staff.
Clearly define and evaluate performance expectations consistent with respective collective bargaining agreement or employee handbook.
Communicate information to staff via multiple platforms and in a timely and professional manner.

Fiscal Management and Contract Services
Prepare and monitor annual budgets for departmental and SUCCESS programs and activities.
Support campus activities, goals, and reporting requirements.
Other Duties
Participate in the planning and implementation of all matters pertaining to academic advising, course registration, career planning, and transfer services.
Lead college-wide assessment of advising initiative, first- and second-year advising planning and programming teams.
Serve on college committees as assigned.
Develop, manage, and implement other related projects, as necessary.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience with staff development and evaluation in a college setting.
Three supervisory experience in an academic advising-centered office.,
Experience using technology in the advising process, academic pathways and career assessment tools.
Strong understanding of student development theory and practice to improve student persistence toward graduation/transfer.
Working knowledge of SEVIS and F1 visa student registration regulations.
Ability to work evenings/weekends during peak enrollment and recruitment periods.
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; adaptable and flexible.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in higher education administration
Bilingual/Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish.
Community college work experience.
Experience with the integration of technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the advising process. Working knowledge of MASS Transfer, Commonwealth Commitment, and public/ private transfer and articulation processes.
