Position Details:
One regular, grant-funded, exempt, full-time classified administrator position, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year on the Oceanside campus, reporting to the Dean of Mathematics and Sciences. The current MESA grant will end July 2027, with possibility of renewal. The work schedule will normally be Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Remote work will be available after the successful completion of the probationary period and at the discretion of the supervisor. The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.

Remote Work:
MiraCosta College believes that flexible work enables employees to achieve a more successful balance between work responsibilities and family life. The District offers the opportunity to telework (remote work) for certain positions, depending on the operational needs of the District and the provisions of the telework policy. Probationary and temporary employees are not eligible to telework unless approved by the appropriate vice president. No employee is guaranteed the right to telework. No employee shall be authorized to telework 100% of the time; regular, on-campus presence is expected for all District employees on a weekly basis.

IMPORTANT: MiraCosta College requires that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to promote a safe and healthful workplace for employees and to promote the health and safety of our campus community. Salary Range: CM-8
Compensation: Starting at $106,658 per year (range CM-8, step 1) based on the 2022-23 Classified Administrator Salary Schedule.

Employees must make arrangements for the direct deposit of paychecks into the financial institution of their choice, via electronic fund transfer.

Retired STRS members are not eligible for this position.



Basic Function:
Under general supervision, plan, develop, organize, manage, implement, and provide direction for the programming and execution of the Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA) Center. Recruit and hire staff, implement training to ensure student success-centered service, provide leadership for MESA program objectives, and perform related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

1. Recruit, interview, recommend hires, and train staff.
2. Oversee scheduling, assignments, and the daily workflow of the department.
3. Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Plan, organize, manage, assign, delegate, review, and evaluate the work of staff engaged in the programming and execution of the MESA Center and program objectives according to state guidelines.
2. Develop and participate in marketing, recruitment, and outreach activities.
3. Foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
4. Collaborate with faculty, academic support centers, and programs to ensure that program goals are met.
5. Create student clusters in classrooms, labs, workshops, and discussion groups.
6. Program academic excellence workshops.
7. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate orientations.
8. Coordinate academic (tutoring and learning assistance) and non-academic (career services, basic needs, financial aid, and counseling) support services.
9. Assist in the development, preparation, and administration of district and grant budgets.
10. Maintain appropriate records and controls to assure that the program operates within established limitations and guidelines.
11. Collect and analyze data.
12. Establish and facilitate a MESA Campus Council with faculty sponsors, students, and representatives from various campus departments.
13. Plan, organize, and implement a timely dissemination of information and ensure reporting requirements are met.

Other Duties:

1. Participate actively in departmental teams and their projects.
2. Attend regional and national conferences and workshops related to the MESA Program.
3. Maintain currency in the profession and in applicable technologies.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:

1) masters degree or equivalent work experience;
AND
2) five (5) years minimum experience managing project implementations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in student services and/or instructional management at a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) (preferably at a community college) and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Desired experience in grant management.

NOTE: For work experience, one 'year' is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 12 months, or at least 2,080 hours.



Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working with STEM-related programs in support of the access and success of students from historically under-represented backgrounds.



Licenses & Other Requirements:
A valid California drivers license and the ability to maintain insurability under the districts vehicle insurance program.

Primarily business office environment; subject to frequent public contact and interruption; intermittent exposure to individuals acting in a disagreeable fashion; may work at any district location or authorized facility with occasional evenings and/or weekends on an as-needed basis.
