POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs (AVP) provides leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive enrollment management plan for Hunter College. The AVP will work closely with all areas to advance Hunter???s mission and strategic plan as they relate to student enrollment, student retention, and programs that enhance the student experience at the College. The AVP directly supervises three divisional Assistant Deans and provides oversight and coordination between the offices of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid, Advising, Athletics and Recreation and Student Communications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership in the College???s enrollment management effort: coordinate the development, implementation, ongoing assessment, and refinement of an effective, innovative, collaborative, analytically rigorous enrollment management plan, in partnership with the President, Provost, and other key campus stakeholders.
Provide oversight of several Student Affairs service areas: Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid, Advising, Athletics and Recreation and Student Communications, to ensure delivery of quality services to all constituents, including prospective and current students, academic and administrative departments, faculty and staff.
Contribute to the development of effective policies and procedures relevant to student enrollment and enrollment-related functions. Chair and/or participate in enrollment-related committees and task forces at Hunter and CUNY.
Assist in developing strong evidence-based services and programs; develop and implement assessment strategies and processes to achieve student learning outcome goals.
Coordinate with the Vice President of Communications to develop effective communication of the College???s marketing message.
Manage all activity related to the tracking and record maintenance of undergraduate students who are placed on probation, are dismissed academically, or are placed on the Dean???s List.
Facilitate a culturally-competent work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with, a diverse population.
Contribute to the overall success of the Division of Student Affairs by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate or terminal degree strongly preferred; ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education and student affairs administration preferred. Proven success with enrollment management, student retention strategies and initiatives desired. Demonstrated experience with collaborative projects between student affairs and academic programs. Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and assessment of learning outcomes. Candidates should also have experience working in an urban academic institution with students from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills required; ability to develop and maintain collaborations involving students, parents, staff, faculty, administration and the community are essential. Demonstrate excellent listening and problem-solving skills. Exhibit the flexibility to manage multiple complex roles which require a broad base of knowledge. Possess the ability to articulate the philosophy of Student Affairs and its contribution to student development.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with education and experience. ($109,554 to $170,000)
