The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Senior Assistant Director for Leadership Programs reports to the Senior Associate Director for Student Activities. This position provides direction, support, and conducts performance reviews for one full time staff member (Assistant Director for Leadership Programs). This position creates and implement an educational learning environment for one graduate student. This learning environment allows the graduate student to enhance their knowledge and experience within Student Affairs. This position oversees the operation of the Student Government Association (SGA) which includes the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch, as well as various leadership committees within SGA. This position also serves as the accountable officer for SGA’s and Leadership Programs’ budget (total approximately $200,000). This position works in partnership with the department of Greek Student Engagement and Development and the department of Campus Recreation and Wellness to serve as a resource and provides support to Recognized Student Clubs and Organizations (RSO’s). This includes overseeing and coordinating the recognition process for student clubs and organizations, coordinating initial and on-going training for student club and organization leaders, and coordinating and developing support resources (i.e., RSO Manual, club offices, etc.) for student clubs and organizations. This position serves as an instructor for the Leadership Minor and teaches up to 2 classes per academic year. This position also provides guidance and structure for Cat Camp, a program that assists freshmen in making a successful transition from the high school environment to a college environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree is required in Student Affairs and/or a related field with 2-4 years of related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with Student Government Association in an advisory capacity. Experience working with Engage. Experience working with the recognition and on-going support for recognized clubs and organizations.
