The Student Services Specialist partners with the disciplines within the John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences to perform a range of student services and related administrative work. The Hairston College of Health and Human Services (HCHHS) is seeking an innovative, energetic, student centered individual for the position of Student Engagement Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to develop and implement initiatives that focus on increasing opportunities to engage students in activities that promote student success. We seek an individual who understands the current student landscape including challenges they face and activities they are likely to participate in. This position includes academic advising, supervisory and administrative functions that promote student engagement, academic success, personal development and a strong sense of community.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent administrative or office management experience; however, a master's in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or a related field is preferred.
One year experience with student support and advisement.
Possesses strong computer and software skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite or equivalents, written and verbal communication, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and faculty, work independently and manage multiple responsibilities, and take initiative when appropriate.
Ability to work in a flexible way that allows for changes in assignments and priorities depending on programmatic and student needs
Presentation and group facilitation experience
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
Strong organizational and communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in planning and implementing events
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
