POSITION SUMMARY:
With the increased complexities of developing technologies, regulatory financial aid compliance, advanced business intelligence and decision support, expanded University strategies (COM, Engineering, cost containment, etc.) and severe competition for enrollment at a time of constricting demographics, executive and expert level know-how is required for the integration and operationalization of EMG and university-wide strategy in support of enrollment and student lifecycle operations to meet enrollment goals.
The Director, under the AVP of Operations and Student services, now assumes full functional responsibility for planning, development, implementation, evaluation and management of data, analytics and business intelligence needs for the division and the executive reporting of enrollment management and other student data & reports; enrollment research across the higher education landscape lending to enrollment strategies and student success; and predictive modeling supporting which connects the student lifecycle and academic affairs program development. Supporting accountability in EMG for the development of, implementation, optimization, integration, and continuous improvement of operational and strategic enrollment initiatives, the enrollment processes, practice standards, playbooks, and metrics needed will be developed by the Director. Supporting leaders across the university in optimizing enrollment to inform our strategy, collaborates with CTS, Academic Affairs, and other Student Lifecycle Services to implement initiatives, monitor metrics, forecast admissions funnels, financial aid budgets, and market driven enrollment demand, and improve efficiency to meet student outcome goals. Supports teams from Enrollment Operations, Admissions, Financial aid, Student Services to ensure operations and analytics integrations to ensure new students, returning students and readmissions students are supported through their enrollment journey and prepared for success at Duquesne.
Serves as the leading expert and advisor on strategy and operational effectiveness integrations for the entire enrollment division, and ensures data integrity within and between all systems (including but not limited to Banner, Slate, Cognos, EAB, Power BI, Capture, WEAVE, SRAR, SCOIR, etc.)
Responsible for assessment of operational excellence, will ensure the high-quality execution of technology supported services for students, business processes, data reporting and analytics. The incumbent will support operationalizing all aspects of the enrollment strategies and integrating processes from prospect to matriculation and beyond.
The Director will be responsible for maintaining cross-functional relationships and the ability to develop appropriate strategy from research and analytics. The incumbent must remain current on best practices in applied enrollment management analytics and research to include the creation forecasting and predictive models, and of sophisticated yet user-friendly reports and presentations.
The Director provides high level expertise and leadership for all analytical activities in the Division of Enrollment Management. manages strategic analyses and technical projects for the division, including BANNER, Technolutions Slate, and the Financial Aid and registration systems (Starfish). The Director interfaces pro-actively and effectively with other offices, including the central Information Technology Services (CTS) Registrar, Student Accounts, Senior Vice Provosts office, individual Schools/Colleges enrollment staff, etc. to promote the seamless use of technology through related systems across the campus (e.g., Ellucian Banner). Serves as the primary business analyst for the division, translating operational processes into functional technology solutions, and promotes a decision support and effectiveness-oriented culture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Enrollment Management Group as well as faculty, staff and other administrative leaders to develop and achieve the university’s strategic enrollment goals. Monitors and reports on accountability for the plan’s successful execution and monitoring to ensure desired effectiveness.
Works with the Senior Vice President of Enrollment Management to create, implement, monitor and evaluate strategic enrollment plans, integrated with the University-wide planning and forecasting systems, and through expert level knowledge of technology systems operationalize strategy into effective EMG procedures.
Advises the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and other University leadership on national recruitment and admissions trends and the changing enrollment landscape.
Benchmarks and analyzes competitors' recruitment, financial aid and scholarships strategies.
Recommends, based on research and collaboration with other University colleagues, annual cost increases, academic program development based on market demand research, new student enrollment objectives, discount rates and other special enrollment initiatives.
Provides strategic level, data-driven analyses and presentations for a variety of audiences.
Remains knowledgeable of the national trends and best practices in all phases of enrollment management.
Supporting and establishing support for strategy execution and operational excellence, will ensure the high-quality execution of technology supported student services, business processes, data reporting and analytics. The incumbent will operationalize all aspects of the enrollment process from prospect to matriculation and beyond.
Serve as the Senior liaison with Institutional Research to ensure division data are collected and reported correctly, especially as it relates to accreditation and external reporting.
Serve as primary liaison to the University Data Governance Committee.
Provide for customized dashboards, provide daily/weekly standard analytical reports needed as well as ad-hoc report requests, and research and provide analytic support to key decision makers for feedback and improvement of recruitment strategies.
Help determine the realization of cost savings and other business performance metrics, ensuring success of new business processes and/or system enhancements.
Develop and maintain predictive modeling tools that will help create a successful recruitment plan (graduate and undergraduate) needed to shape the student population, increase enrollment yields and improve selectivity.
Supporting integration of all systems and establishing assessment and effectiveness measures for the entire enrollment division, and supports data integrity within and between all systems (including but not limited to Banner, Slate, Cognos, EAB, Power BI, Capture, SRAR, SCOIR, etc.)
Review existing technology systems (primarily COGNOS, POWERBI, Banner and Technolutions Slate) instances to ensure the system supports all offices that utilize the platform. This includes creating training documents and providing training to users based on their role within the system.
Identify and implement new or unused features in order to achieve the system’s maximum potential.
Develop and maintain predictive modeling tools that will help create a successful recruitment plan (graduate and undergraduate) needed to shape the student population, increase enrollment yields and improve selectivity.
Lead, design, and develop original research projects addressing enrollment management questions and issues.
Vendor Partner Management and ROI analysis support - Oversee the evaluation and assessment and management, hiring and training of business services consultants.
Provides training and education sessions to the broader community and the EMG
Publishes and presents regularly to promote the reputation of EMG and Duquesne in local, regional and national forums.
Performs other related duties, Attends and assists with various admissions events (i.e. Duquesnefest, Fall Open House, etc.)
Supervises the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution and 8+ years of work-related experience.
At least five years of progressive managerial in a systems technical operations, or financial aid/admissions/enrollment experience in an educational environment is required.
Valid driver’s license in good standing.
Preferred qualifications:
MBA, Ed.D, Ph.D. or other advanced certifications or degree in Higher education, Data Science, Educational assessment, business systems Computer science, technology, marketing automation, etc.
Experience in scheduling highly preferred.
Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Office tools, email and the Internet with the ability to learn a variety of new technology systems; familiarity with Slate and Banner preferred.

This experience includes but is not limited to working in higher education admissions and/or related recruitment departments and scheduling.)

Advanced experience in enrollment management research, modeling, and analysis required; working knowledge of admissions and ?nancial aid policies and data management
Ability to analyze data for the purposes of measuring academic and non-academic program effectiveness and providing return on investment (ROI) summaries
Manages other assignments and special projects as assigned by the chief enrollment officer
A broad understanding of higher education processes and procedures, including shared governance, strategic planning, resource allocation, report production and budget management
Experience managing high-stakes, visible projects within higher education
Experience leading and/or advising on change management strategies
Experience working closely with executive leadership
Ability to take a hands-on approach to staff management with a results-oriented and proactive attitude, and creative resource utilization
