The office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (URF) at Northeastern University fosters a culture of undergraduate research and creative endeavor across a global network. Along with other offices and programs on campus, URF support students through workshops, mentoring, and consultation on applications for distinguished fellowships and advanced study; funding through the university-wide Project-Based Exploration for the Advancement of Knowledge, or PEAK Experiences Awards; and much more. URF's primary responsibility is to develop, provide, and communicate comprehensive programming that promotes and supports self-efficacy, cultural agility, ethical civic engagement, cultural awareness, intellectual community, and advanced study among all students, regardless of background.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Create and execute innovative strategies that serve high-achieving students by integrating undergraduate research, creative endeavors, distinguished fellowships, advanced degree preparation, and merit-scholarship programs.
Establish and maintain institutional partnerships by collaborating with relevant colleges, academic departments, centers, and offices to tailor and enhance program offerings.
Manage the operational aspects of the undergraduate research and creative endeavor.
Oversee distinguished post-baccalaureate fellowships, such as Schwarzman, Mitchell, Knight-Hennessy, Fulbright, Goldwater, and NSF GRFP, which includes identifying, recruiting, and supporting applicants.
Coordinate advanced degree preparation and merit-scholarship programming, including the Stamps Scholar Program.
Lead the planning, coordination, and staffing of university-wide research and fellowships events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications for this role typically include a Ph.D. in a related field or equivalent professional experience, complemented by substantial experience in advising and/or teaching high-achieving students from a variety of backgrounds.
Proven success and expertise in navigating nationally competitive scholarship processes within fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
Understanding of best practices for conducting and assessing undergraduate research and creative endeavors.
Experience in fostering collaborative partnerships in academic settings.
Proficient in oral and written communication, with a strong command of web technologies.
