General Statement of Duties:
The Communications Specialist assists in the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of communication strategies aimed at the recruitment and retention of students. This role will contribute to the Marketing & Communications Department goal of delivering a more holistic student-centric approach, delivering consistent and relevant communications that drive a culture where success is celebrated.
Responsibilities:
Assists in the development and implementation of annual communications plans.
Collaborates with the Associate Director of Public Relations and Communications and other departments to develop, execute, and monitor communication plans and ad-hoc communications for students aimed at increasing student retention to all campus locations including online.
Develops, posts and monitors social media and other e-communication technologies.
Attend on-campus events to capture the day-in-life of students.
Create and execute communications through email, SMS portal, mobile application, blog, social media channels, etc.
Work with in-house designer to ensure visual communications align with brand guidelines.
Monitor success and progress of communication and data flow within student journeys.
Assist with identifying and recommending opportunities to improve metrics and KPIs.
Ability to identify and implement best practices and effective retention communications strategies in accordance with the College's strategic plan through a diversity, equity and inclusion lens.
Identify and implement enrollment market research through analytics, usability results, social media, web content and student survey results.
Serves as the liaison with other departments to track and manage projects which require collaboration and information sharing.
Assist in the digital archive of marketing assets (photography, video, and documents) on college's digital asset management system to be used in communications.
Manage and update all projects through department's online project management system
Serves on college committees as required.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other field related to area of assignment(Marketing & Communitions);
Three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment (marketing, social media, event planning, and/or administrative work), or
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in higher education and/or creating campaigns and assets (i.e., direct mail, highly segmented email campaigns, websites, social media, text messaging, etc.);
An operating knowledge of Student Services software, such as banner, ReadyEd, and TargetX Salesforce;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Intermediate knowledge Microsoft suite of products;
Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving ability;
Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment.
