Reporting to the vice provost for student affairs, the associate vice provost/dean of students (AVP/DOS) plays a key role in supporting and advancing the mission and priorities of the division of student affairs on the Pittsburgh campus of the University of Pittsburgh. This role is directly responsible for the strategic direction and management of the office of the dean of students, including three teams: student wellness, student community and inclusion, and engagement and professional development. As a visible and engaged advocate for all students, the AVP/DOS works with and assists undergraduate and graduate/professional students, including student leaders, by listening and responding to student concerns, maintaining a visible presence on campus, and serving as a liaison between students and the larger institution. The position provides oversight of a $30M budget, and the salary and benefits are competitive.
Qualifications
A master's degree in college student personnel, educational leadership, counseling, or a related field and eight years of experience in roles demonstrating increasing levels of leadership and supervisory responsibility in complex, demanding, and fast-paced higher education environments are required. An earned doctorate is preferred.
