The SUNY Rochester EOC (REOC) has been an established adult educational facility in the city of Rochester NY for over 50 years. Conveniently located in Downtown Rochester, the REOC has earned the reputation as one of the outstanding Centers in the state. REOC employees collaboratively provide skill and academic training necessary for students to continue to college or obtain a career. REOC has a strong connection to both SUNY Brockport and the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development. REOC is one of ten Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) and two Career Counseling and Outreach Centers located throughout New York State, each with a commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce and student population. Job Summary: The REOC is currently accepting applications for a Mental Health Counselor. The person in this role completes comprehensive mental health assessments and provides individual and group counseling to students seeking services at the REOC Student Life and Counseling Center. The Counselor also facilitates clinical, consultative, and in-service training to the center and is available to help manage crisis situations. The position is expected to engage and collaborate with, student services and educational departments as well as students and provide a supportive role in recruitment, retention and program counseling. This is a full-time, 12-month position that includes covering one evening per week.
Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree by time of appointment in counseling, social work or closely related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
• Minimum of two years of professional, supervised counseling experience working in a mental health setting.
• NYS Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice mental health counseling.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated success collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience facilitating psycho-educational workshops and/or trainings.
• Experience working on a college campus.
• Experience in crisis management.
• Experience with, and ability to engage with, a diverse client/student population.

Work Schedule: 4 days/week 8-4 pm; 1 day/week 11am-7pm
Salary and Benefits: The Minimum Salary for this position is $55,151.
