Position Information: A. Gary Anderson School of Management at UC Riverside offers an integrated career and academic advising approach. Our Student Success Advisors support one of five accredited MBA or Specialized Masters programs offered by the Graduate Business School. We personally work with each student to guide their educational coursework to align with their individual career objective. We are seeking a successful, experienced professional who will coach students in the MBA program regarding career development and job search strategies related to their educational achievements and work experience. They will provide industry experience and expertise in guiding student's job search strategies.
The full salary range for the Graduate Student Success Advisor position is $56,000 - $96,400 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Requirements: Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Minimum Requirements
Working knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Knowledge of complex U.S. visa and immigration procedures, compliance issues, and employment eligibility/authorization for international students and scholars.
Interpersonal skills.
Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Deep knowledge of business and and the various career paths in business is essential. Prior work experience in recruiting, job placement, career counseling or coaching and/ or as a university recruiting employer partner. Highly motivated and dedicated individual with strong organizational skills who embraces change as an opportunity for personal growth. Ability to work as a strong team player who desires to go above and beyond delivering the best possible student and employer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Career Counseling: Advises department/college/school students on the job market process, and the standards and norms specific to the student's field of study; advises on summer internship programs; develops and maintains network of departments and regional firms interested in hiring summer students.

Plans, designs, and provides workshops for students, such as information about the organization, or academic strategies and enrichment programs.

Financial Aid: Oversees the administration, evaluation, and awarding of student fellowships, grants, scholarships, and other awards; advises students on financial aid options of the organization and extra-mural fellowship opportunities; oversees processes for equitable assignment of Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs)and coordinates GSI assignments each term.

Student Conduct: Responsible for interpreting organization policies and advising students and faculty on student conduct, student grievances, disputes, and issues regarding discrimination.

Provides advice and assistance to students and scholars regarding complex U.S. visa and immigration procedures, compliance issues, and employment eligibility/authorization. Coordinates and implements programs and workshops to support and retain international students/scholars. Makes referrals to off campus and community resources.

Partner with faculty, employers, alumni and professional organizations to develop experiential skill building workshops, events to further enable career readiness for internship and full time employment.
