Classification Summary: Incumbents coordinate and deliver instruction programs for students and monitor academic progress. Responsibilities may include providing instruction to students; reviewing test results; and maintaining records of student information.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience: Bachelors degree in related field.
Preferred Education and/or Training and Experience: Teaching experience preferred.
Licensing Requirements: Apply, earn and maintain DESE Teaching Certification in Adult Education
Classification Duties:
Instruct students in a classroom setting in all subjects including reading, math, and language arts, ensuring applicable core competencies are addressed. (B2)
Plan lessons; teach, observe students; grade student assignments; and evaluate overall student performance. (B2)
Participate in the development of applicable instructional materials, exams, workshops, tutorials, presentations, support items, special programs, and/or other related items. (B2)
Plan, evaluate, and revise learning activities with students. Identify student needs to determine educational criteria needs. (B2)
Maintain student progress and goal database/folder. (B2)
Apply, attain and maintain DESE Teaching Certification in Adult Education. (B2)
Must complete 20 hours of DESE approved professional development annually. (B2)
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Position Duties:
Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Must be willing to travel to other AEL class sites and substitute if needed.
This is a position teaching English Language Learners during the day at the Jefferson College Arnold campus.
