This position will act as a program navigator to students interested in the Commercial HVAC &
Refrigeration program and will provide student support and outreach to facilitate the recruitment of students for the Johnson Controls (JCI) grant program. This position will recruit and advise students specific to the Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration program based on the annual college and program recruitment goals for the JCI grant. The overall objective of this position is to coordinate, implement, and evaluate all activities that educate and inform prospects, parents, high school personnel, and referral agencies which includes both in-person and virtual capacities. The program navigator serves as a spokesperson for the college through presentations, meetings, and communications with prospective students, high school counselors and teachers, and community referrals; again, functioning in both in-person/traditional and virtual recruitment/outreach. The program navigator serves as the academic and financial aid advisor including career services. This is a comprehensive student affairs position. The position also maintains the critical link between the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, & Belonging (DEIJB), Academic affairs, Student Affairs and the college faculty and staff.
Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in a related field, i.e. Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work, Education or equivalent experience
2 years of professional level experience in employment services, public assistance programs, social service programs, workforce development or federally funded department of labor employment and training programs
Extensive knowledge of public, private, and community social services and resource agencies sufficient to provide referrals to students
Experience in developing academic plans
Experience in developing and training on career and job search tools
Proficiency with a variety of word processing, database and web-based applications sufficient to accurately collect data and create reports
Knowledge of private data practices and FERPA
Valid driver's license, ability to travel to multiple locations in the local service area
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of relevant industry processes and principles
Spanish speaking
Experience providing academic and/or employment case management
Knowledge of Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration
Knowledge of individual and group employment and education/training counseling methods and techniques
