The ONLINE Success Coach will serve as a bridge between undergraduate and graduate students in Minnesota State Mankato ONLINE programs and support services by actively connecting with students throughout the semester to check in on how things are going and to help as needed. The ONLINE Success Coach helps and supports undergraduate and graduate students as they manage commitments, finances, academics, and scheduling, while also providing students with a sense of community and support. Support may include conversation or resources around time management, academic skills, work-life balance, prioritization, and online learning strategies. The ONLINE Success Coach may refer undergraduate and graduate students to program advisors for help in building class schedules, necessary paperwork, and degree progress. The ONLINE Success Coach will give prompt feedback to students and recognize the different ways of learning which will differ from student to student.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (conferred on an actual transcript at the time of application).
Minimum of one (1) year experience in an academic, academic support, or student services role in a higher education environment.
Demonstrated commitment to working with underrepresented students and students from diverse backgrounds.
Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to guide students.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and manage time.
Knowledge of, or experience with, non-traditional students and online learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Master's Degree
Working knowledge of adult learning theory.
Evidence of successful experiences working independently.
Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work mode:
Telework:A position with a work arrangement that allows an employee to perform work on a regular basis at a telework location that is not the employee's permanent/principal work location. Up to 20% of the time.
Work schedule will be flexible based on department needs. Some evenings and Saturday work will occur.
