The Office of Admission at Teachers College seeks an energetic, collaborative, and skilled individual to join our fast-paced and high-volume office as an Admission Coordinator.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Admission and working closely with the Director of Operations and Strategic Planning, the incumbent will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and supporting the College’s enrollment goals. The incumbent will manage key aspects of the application review and decision workflow; respond to general inquiries from students, faculty, and staff; and manage other projects related to the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of new students. The Admission Coordinator will also assist with ensuring that best practices are being followed and outstanding service is being provided to applicants and admitted students.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service
Manage communication with applicants pertaining to admission criteria, application materials, and enrollment requirements
Provide courteous and accurate general counseling across all academic programs in the context of a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Support with front-facing customer service for specific academic departments, ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders.
If needed, opening and staffing the Welcome Center during normal business hours, greeting visitors, managing the visitor sign-in process, answering their inquiries, and directing them to appropriate offices and departments Utilize the CRM system (Slate) to track and input data for prospective students and guests, and making updates to applicant records as needed
Interact with all guests of the Office of Admission and Teachers College in a courteous, respectful, and welcoming manner, adhering to established customer service guidelines Address challenging situations and/or individuals with professionalism, diplomacy, and tact
Application Support
Assist in the management of applications workflows for degree, non-degree, and advanced certificate programs
Review applications for completeness and compliance with admission requirements
Conduct admission application reviews and finalize admission decisions
Proofread and ensure accuracy of admission decisions before finalization
Communicate with program coordinators regarding application statuses and updates
Track progress toward internal deadlines and enrollment deposits
Aid in the management and processing of deferral requests and fee waiver requests
Recruitment
Provide support for the setup, planning, and execution of virtual and specialty recruitment efforts and events
Edit and update materials for the website, presentations, and general office use
Develop and maintain documentation and training materials pertaining to Office of Admission processes, procedures, and policies
Other
Other related tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education or training
One to three (1-3) years of recent experience in an administrative position
Experience providing positive, effective customer service and administrative support in a high-volume office or student services setting
Superior communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
Good presentation skills and comfort speaking in front of groups
Excellent attention to detail and ability to anticipate office needs
Strong interpersonal skills that enable good collaboration with colleagues
Patience and flexibility
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to successfully balance multiple work priorities
Demonstrated ability to learn new software
