GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Realizing & Inspiring Student Excellence (RISE) is a cultural and academic community celebrating the contributions and achievements of Black, African American, African, Latina/o/e, and/or 2SLGTBQI+ students. RISE promotes and increases college completion through student programming, academic scholarship, and career development that supports a culturally and educationally diverse student body.
RISE Community Liaisons play a crucial role in welcoming students into the North Shore community and helping peers navigate the many resources available at NSCC. Duties may include, but are not limited to: introducing RISE to new and returning students, staffing event tables, organizing small-scale programming for RISE, supporting and increasing engagement through drop-in office hours and on social media platforms, and serving as a de facto advisor for program development in RISE.
Community Liaisons will serve as knowledgeable guides and positive peer role models. There will be opportunities to work collaboratively with a variety of offices on campus, such as the Student Success Center, Accessibility & Wellness Center, Career Services, and the Office of Student Engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Act as a key member of the RISE team by welcoming, greeting, and meeting with active and prospective RISE students;
Offer RISE students opportunities to learn about key resources/functions across campus associated with academic and personal success;
Maintain an understanding of NSCC resources and offices on campus;
Build a social media presence for RISE and promote RISE & NSCC via our social media platforms;
Along with other Community Liaisons, serve as an advisor to guide the future development of RISE programming and community offerings;
Assist in on and off-campus event planning for RISE;
Assist with campus engagement events; attend engagement events as requested
Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect North Shore's core values while interacting with members of the NSCC community;
Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions;
Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Must be currently enrolled at North Shore Community College in good academic and conduct standing
Must have completed at least one semester at NSCC
Effective communication skills and the ability to explain concepts to others clearly
Demonstrated proficiency with basic computer operations
The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with North Shore resources available to students
Experience working with college students and/or the communities we serve
Experience using social media platforms
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications
Experience using Navigate and/or Navigate app
Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English
Additional Information: SALARY: $16.80 per hour, Non-benefited position. 10-15 hours/week
