The Student Engagement & Development (SED) team within the Carlson School Undergraduate Program is a key resource for students as they navigate the transition to college, engage in meaningful co-curricular experiences, build a sense of community within Carlson, and holistically design a college experience that is aligned with their academic and career goals, while prioritizing their wellbeing. This team supports the mission of the Carlson School and University of Minnesota through the delivery of the âœDesign Your Lifeâ course, required of all Carlson undergraduate students.
The Wellbeing Coordinator plays a key role in executing the Carlson Schoolâ™s student engagement and development strategies with specific emphasis on supporting student wellbeing. Responsibilities include student wellbeing programming, oversight of Business Week planning, and Design Your Life academic course development and instruction of 3 class sections annually. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Development, this position will support development of an Undergraduate Program-wide strategy to support student wellbeing, broadly defined. While a focus of this role includes wellbeing promotion and programming, one-on-one mental health consultations will be referred to Carlsonâ™s embedded Wellness Counselor.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Student Wellbeing Programming (55%)
In partnership with SED team, develop undergraduate program strategy to support students in areas related to fostering wellbeing and finding a sense of belonging.
Partner with Carlsonâ™s embedded Wellness Counselor and Undergraduate Program Business Operations Team to coordinate ongoing wellbeing focused programs and events such as Wellness Connections lunch series.
Serve as Advisor to Business Week student planning committee. Lead committee in planning and executing a week of events focused on wellbeing and supporting undergraduate students in building their sense of community and belonging in the Carlson School.
Hire, train, and provide ongoing supervision for student employee focused on supporting wellbeing initiatives.
Serve as SED liaison to the Business Board student mental health and wellbeing committee.
Serve as Undergraduate Program liaison on campus-wide initiatives related to wellbeing.
Collaborate with embedded Wellness Counselor and/or SED team to develop and offer programming to Carlson-affiliated student organizations related to wellbeing.
Design Your Life Course Instruction (20%)
Provide expert, engaging, and interactive instruction for three sections total of BA1021: Design Your Life course per academic year. Oversee Teaching Assistants and grading for each section.
Contribute to development and maintenance of coordinated course curriculum across all sections, including creation of a shared Canvas, syllabus, lesson plans, classroom presentation templates, and assignments.
Develop innovative content, active learning techniques, classroom assessment strategies, and use of new technologies to engage students in the classroom.
Actively identify opportunities to weave topics of wellbeing, diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the course curriculum.
Build authentic relationships with students from varied backgrounds, perspectives, and identities, and utilize these relationships to holistically support students in navigating systemic barriers and achieving success.
Conduct course assessment. Review student feedback of course and teaching; leverage insights to make ongoing improvements.
Actively support students in achieving success throughout the course by tracking student progress and regularly communicating proactively with students.
Engage in ongoing professional development and training related to teaching and incorporate learnings into curriculum design.
Student Engagement, Development, and Wellbeing Support (15%)
Lead, coordinate, and serve as back-up for Student Engagement & Development team-wide initiatives including orientation, programming, event support, student-facing communications, assessment of student sense of belonging, learning outcome development, and more.
Represent SED team by conducting outreach tabling, facilitating presentations, and sitting on panels at orientation, transition events, and more.
Collaborate with SED team to create student engagement, development, and wellbeing model.
Develop, administer, and analyze assessments to measure student learning, program satisfaction, and overall engagement at student engagement, development, and wellbeing programs and events.
Actively solicit feedback from students and student leaders regarding their student experience and with SED programs and events including focus groups, surveys, and more.
Collaborate alongside Carlsonâ™s embedded Wellness Counselor, Academic Advisors, Career Coaches, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Admissions team, student leaders, and campus partners to serve as cultural navigator for students around topics of wellbeing and to provide proactive support for students as needed.
Support the development and management of Student Engagement & Development budgets in alignment with departmental priorities.
Service & Special Projects (10%)
Collaborate across the Student Engagement & Development Team on emerging initiatives to holistically support students across the student lifecycle.
Support the success of Undergraduate Program initiatives through committee membership and college-wide event staffing support.
Serve on collegiate and/or campus-wide committees engaged in benchmarking, formulating policies, establishing quality standards and practices related to role and/or as requested.
Engage in ongoing professional development and training through professional associations related to wellbeing, teaching, undergraduate business education, student engagement, and development to remain abreast of best practices and trends
Work on special projects as need arises, or at the request of the Assistant Director or Director.

MINIMUM / ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS degree plus four (4) or more years of related experience or a Master's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SELECTION CRITERIA:
Master's degree in college student personnel, higher education and student affairs, counseling, public health, social work, or related field.
Knowledge of wellness and wellbeing models, practices, trends, and intervention strategies.
Evidence of college student development theory, knowledge, and skills.
Demonstrated experience applying a racial equity and social justice lens to student development work.
Experience successfully building relationships and collaborating across teams.
Evidence of oral/written communication skills in a diverse community.
Demonstrated ability to work well independently and collaboratively.
Excellent organizational and event planning skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage simultaneous projects, initiate projects and programs and see them through to completion.
Experience working with program evaluation tools and learning outcomes assessment.
Experience with design thinking or life design curriculum.
