Oxbridge Middle, established in 2021, offers a unique opportunity within the larger institution for a creative educator to join a dynamic and growing division. The MS Science and STEM position will build on an existing program while seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated educator to help shape the curriculum and contribute positively to the middle school culture.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a talented and inspiring middle school science and STEM teacher to join our exceptional faculty and contribute to our vibrant learning community. The Middle School Science and STEM teacher will be responsible for teaching a combination of MS science, introduction to STEM, and advanced STEM classes. This teacher will inspire students to find a passion for science and STEM, promote critical thinking, and utilize engaging, inquiry based and student-centered teaching practices. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, providing individualized support, and engaging students in collaborative, problem-solving experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement innovative lesson plans aligned with Oxbridge Academy’s science and STEM curriculum, tailored to meet diverse student needs and foster a love of learning.
- Teach five sections of a combination of science and STEM courses for Middle School students
-Lead a middle school advisory group
- Assess and document student progress, providing timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Work with Upper School teachers to determine skills necessary for student success in STEM and science related coursework
- Cultivate an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative classroom culture that encourages students to take intellectual risks and develop a growth mindset.
- Actively support Oxbridge’s mission by building meaningful relationships with students, mentoring them in both academics and character development.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events, contributing to a cohesive, mission-driven academic environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues across various departments to create interdisciplinary learning experiences that deepen students’ understanding of science within the broader curriculum
- Engage with parents, guardians, and support staff to communicate student progress and address individual learning needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, computer science, engineering, or a closely related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Science or STEM at the Middle School level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering positive, supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in utilizing instructional technology to create dynamic and engaging learning experiences.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that reflects Oxbridge Academy’s values of Purpose, Agility, Confidence, and Kindness.
Preferred Attributes:
-Enthusiasm for teaching at the Middle School level
-Familiarity of with Next Generation Science Standards for middle and upper school science
-Prior experience teaching in an independent or private school, ideally within a mission-driven educational community.
- Interest in contributing to the school community beyond the classroom with a demonstrated ability to coach or mentor students in co-curricular or extracurricular activities.
- Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and innovative teaching practices.
