Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is comprised of the Clinical Service and Campus Assistance, Resource, and Education (CARE) teams. We are an interdisciplinary team of professionals that work collaboratively to meet the diverse mental health needs of a global student community. The goal of the Counseling Center is to provide students with clinical, educational and outreach-based services that benefit the mental health and well-being of all Jayhawks. Services are primarily short-term in nature, and referrals are made to other helping professionals and community agencies as appropriate. Members of the counseling center are guided by our mission "Empowering Jayhawks to thrive by supporting and promoting mental health and well-being" and values of Authenticity, Belonging, Compassion, Dignity and Hope.




Law/Social Welfare:
The Embedded Clinician position is a new and exciting opportunity at CAPS. Working closely with the CAPS clinical team, they will play a crucial role in supporting the mental health and well-being of KU Law and School of Social Welfare students by providing counseling services, supervision and development of outreach and well-being programming. Embedded staff have a unique opportunity to develop ongoing collaborative working relationships with faculty and staff and develop an expertise within their embedded area. With an office in close proximity to the two schools it supports this position will also contribute to CAPS functional areas, including:

• Individual and group counseling; psychological assessment; developmental and crisis counseling; case management
• Development of and participation in outreach programming
• Consultation with faculty staff, parents, and others
• General administrative responsibilities
• Training and supervision of CAPS clinical trainees
• Other duties as assigned
