The Assistant Director of Campus Alumni Partnerships and Student Philanthropy is responsible for campus alumni partnerships and for managing, expanding and providing strategic direction for the Towson University Student Foundation Members. This position is responsible for alumni programs targeted to alumni and student fraternal organizations, sorority life, club sports and academic college departments with guidance from the Director of Alumni Engagement Programs. The student philanthropy program fosters a culture of philanthropy to encourage student participation in giving to TU and establishes a practice of giving as they matriculate. In addition, this position manages the Alumni Association scholarship program, managing a committee of Alumni Association Volunteers to award scholarships and grants to student and alumni recipients. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manage the Towson University Student Foundation. The Members are student leaders who will spearhead TU's student philanthropy efforts and become TU's alumni donors of the future. The Assistant Director will identify new ways to increase student philanthropic engagement and grow student donor acquisition. Includes managing events geared towards educating students and meeting philanthropic annual goals. The Assistant Director will cultivate relationships with departments on campus to grow the student philanthropy program and increase student giving.
The Assistant Director will aid with the development, growth, stewardship and acknowledgement of the Towson University Student Foundation and its Members. This position will work closely with support from a graduate assistant and the Development Staff, Office of Student Affairs and the University Promotions and Events Department to staff numerous internal and external Presidential events and Programs.
With guidance from the Director of Alumni Engagement Programs, the Assistant Director will work in conjunction with campus partners to identify alumni engagement opportunities with OIIE, Student Affairs, fraternity and sorority life, international programs, the academic colleges and other campus areas as identified.
Coordinate and manage the application process for the Alumni Association scholarship and grant programs with a committee of Alumni Association volunteers to select recipients and award scholarships.
Coordinate the graduate scrolls and manage the Senior Week Activities to promote services, benefits and philanthropic giving to and from graduating seniors and encourage philanthropy from graduating seniors. Serve as the liasion to the Admissions Office for open houses, student events and scholarship programs as needed.
Provide support to the Director of Alumni Engagement Programs and assist wtih additional alumni outreach events as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience.
Knowledge in constituent relations in an academic setting, knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, stewardship and event planning. High level representation of the University and the Office of Alumni Relations under some circumstances. Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and follow up skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong commitment to communication, collaboration and customer service.
