Summary and Scope of Position:
The Career Coach will work collaboratively in managing and developing strategy for and implementation of student and alumni engagement initiatives. The Career Coach will provide career exploration advising to students and alumni through appointment, walk-in, and virtual and in-person counseling sessions. In addition, the Career Coach develops and presents workshops, promotes programs and services, and fosters positive relationships with students, employers, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents. The Career Coach establishes and maintains a curated list of industry partnerships that provides students with professional experiences in alignment with a skills and competency-oriented liberal education.
Specific Responsibilities:
Strategically assess campus priorities to align with CPD’s initiatives, in collaboration with CPD staff.
Manage special department initiatives for students including senior Graduate Planning
Session
Direct program development and strategy for first-year student engagement, including
First-Year Cohort class presentations
Career Advising
Provide individual career advising and education to students and alumni in appointment and group formats; maintain student and alumni advising notes in Handshake online career management syst
Manage career advising for alumni who are considering career changes and those who have delayed entry to, or who are re-entering, the job market.
Administer and interpret career related assessme
Oversee extern students during their experience, answer questions, and provide guidance.
Review resumes; provide career advising on job/internship application and interview processes, and graduate school application procedur
Create and deliver programming including workshops, seminars, presentations, panels, and networking event
Manage group alumni mentor resource workshop
Assist in development, facilitation and marketing of workshops, classroom presentations, programs and events including annual Career Fair, Networking Event, and Graduate School Fair.
Committees/Faculty Collaboration
Serve on the Watson Selection Committee. Work with each finalist to prepare for final interviews with Watson Selection Team.
Serve as CPD liaison to several faculty departments, student groups, clubs, and organizatio
Collaborate with Institute for Student Success team to support integration of career focus into academic programs.
Collaborate with faculty to increase departmental and student awareness of career related opportunities and enhance college-wide engagement efforts.
Provide direction in developing customized workshops/programs for faculty based on student needs.
Departmental Responsibilities

Proactively stay current on professional topics, best practices, and trends through professional associations, independent reading, conference and other professional development programming.
Assist Director in recruiting potential CPD colleagues, along with interviewing and screening candidates for hire; participate in training of new CPD professional
Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, workforce development, adult education, higher education, human resource management or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
Three years of professional experience in career or academic counseling in a higher education or other career development environment.
Expertise with best practices of career coaching in support of holistic student success; understanding of college student development and trends in learning science.
Must be able to handle a full counseling load effectively, prioritize and adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneousl
Demonstrated strength in developing relationships with diverse populations and proven ability to work in a team.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skill
Builds rapport with diverse constituents including faculty/staff, students, alumni, parents and other partner
General familiarity with the framework and goals of a residential liberal education at a mission-driven institution.
Works autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
Detail oriented, flexible, and can initiate and manage multiple tasks, projects and events under competing deadlines and shifting prioritie
