Position Overview:
NYMA is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and qualified High School English/Theater Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will design and deliver an engaging Advanced Placement (AP) level English curriculum, foster and coach students in writing abilities, and direct theater instruction. The candidate must have experience working with students with diverse needs and be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as a student advisor and dorm supervisor. 

Core Responsibilities:

• Design high school English curriculum, including AP-level courses and effectively instruct students
• Develop and lead theater and performance-based classes and productions
• Coach students in writing across various formats, supporting both academic and creative
  writing skills
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and needs
•  Serve as a student advisor and fulfill dorm supervisor duties as required
•  Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that align with NYMA’s academic standards
• Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and school events
• Foster an inclusive, respectful, and positive classroom environment that promotes student
  growth and engagement

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in English, Theater, or a related academic discipline
• Demonstrated experience in AP-level instruction, with proven track record of guiding students to academic success
• Experience and interest leading theater department/education
• Proven ability to coach students in writing, while supporting advancement in writing skills
• Demonstrated success instructing and coaching students of diverse backgrounds and learning needs
• Teaching certification (preferred)
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
• Willingness to take on extra duties as a student advisor and dorm supervisor
