Menlo College seeks applications for the position of Director of Performing Arts. This exempt, full-time, 11-month position reports to the Vice President. The description of responsibilities below is intended to be descriptive but not necessarily all-inclusive.
The Director of Performing Arts is responsible for building and establishing a non-degree performing arts program from the ground. This is focused on, but not limited to, acting, theater, music, dance, art, instrumental, or vocal performance. The Director of Performing Arts liaises with the college and community stakeholders, including, but not limited to, student affairs leadership, student leadership, and department leadership, to identify and execute collaborative initiatives for the program as a whole, for example, event performances. The Director of Performing Arts must provide subject matter expertise to college stakeholders regarding curriculum and professional development guidance as required.
Responsibilities
The following is intended to be a descriptive but not necessarily all-inclusive list of responsibilities.
Directs a performing arts program and manages program operations for students, faculty, and staff. Hires and supervises staff and develops and manages staff as required.
Assist the Vice President in determining program objectives and oversee program development, scheduling, instruction, performances, budgeting, fundraising/revenue generation, recruiting, travel, facilities, and equipment inventory.
Work to maximize College resources while advancing the department's goals.
Participate in community and professional organizations and represent the College as needed to promote a positive image of the performing arts program and the College.
Liaises with College and community stakeholders (e.g., student affairs leadership, student leadership, and department leadership) to identify and execute collaborative initiatives for the program (e.g., event performances).
Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to identify and initiate philanthropic activities for the program.
Identifies and initiates collaborative marketing and promotional activities across the College and within the performing arts community.
Provides subject matter expertise to college stakeholders as required or related to the performing arts (e.g., curriculum and professional development guidance).
Maintains office and campus hours and represents the assigned performing arts program at meetings and events as required.
Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and courses as required by the Vice President.
Maintain open lines of communication and strong working relationships across campus.
Contribute to the overall success of Menlo College by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President.
