The Associate Director of Career Services is responsible for providing leadership and support in the administration and operation of the Career Services Center. This role assists in the management of career exploration, career development, workforce engagement initiatives, and the supervision of career services coordinators across main and satellite campuses. The Associate Director works collaboratively with university departments, faculty, external partners, and students to foster career readiness and professional development, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and industry trends.
Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA); Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate.
25% Administrative Oversight
Provide day-to-day leadership and support for the Career Services Center under the direction of the Director.
Assist in the supervision and management of Career Services staff, including Career Development Coordinators, counselors, and interns.
Oversee departmental operations and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans for career-related initiatives.
Manage the Career Services Center in the absence of the Director
Supervise Career Development Coordinators located on satellite campuses and within individual colleges, ensuring consistent and effective service delivery.
Provide guidance and support to staff on program execution, student advising, and employer engagement.
Recruit, train, and mentor staff and interns, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment."
25% Career Counseling & Coaching:
Provide individual and group career counseling sessions to students and alumni, focusing on career exploration, development, and job search strategies.
Administer and interpret career assessment tools to assist individuals in identifying career pathways.
Train and mentor career counseling/coaching interns in best practices for career advising.
Collaborate with the Academic Advising Center to create and implement proactive advising strategies."
25 % Program Development:
Assist in designing, planning, and executing career development programs, workshops, and events that enhance career readiness for students and alumni.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders (academic departments, industry partners, alumni) to create and enhance career pathways and job placement opportunities.
Develop resources, including online tools and printed materials, to support student and alumni career planning."
10% Workforce Engagement:
Collaborate with employers and industry partners to expand recruitment efforts and internship/job opportunities to help shape student training efforts.
Assist in managing workforce engagement initiatives and career fairs, ensuring alignment with industry needs and student interests.
Stay updated on workforce trends and opportunities, particularly those relevant to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and other regional/national bodies.
10% Collaboration & Relationship Building:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with academic departments, athletics, alumni relations, and other university divisions to support the career development needs of students.
Partner with external organizations, businesses, and community colleges to create new and enhance existing career-related programs."

Minimum Requirements:
Masterâ™s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three years related experience
Proven experience in managing career services programs, staff supervision, and Training program development.
Strong knowledge of career counseling/coaching techniques and the administration of career assessments.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. 2+ years managing and supervising people.
Demonstrated track record managing staff resulting in the fulfillment of events, new services or committed project goals.
Preferred:Â
Masterâ™s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Human Resources, Social work, School Counseling or a related field with demonstrated experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience in career services, student affairs, or workforce development.
Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Or Social work degree or related Experience dealing directly with students or community support services.
Familiarity with workforce trends and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) guidelines.
Certified Career Counselor (CCC) or other relevant professional certifications or Experience dealing directly with students or community support servicesÂ
Salary Range
The target base annual salary range is $59,370 to $84,311 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
