The Assistant Director-Housing Occupancy is an integral leader within the Housing and Residence Education (HRE) team at The Ohio State University. HRE is comprised of over 60 full-time staff members and 20 graduate and 800 undergraduate student staff members. This position works to maximize occupancy of more than 16,000 residential students that live on 4 Ohio State University campuses which results in the generation of $200M in housing revenue on an annual basis. Participates in the overall leadership of Housing Administration within the Housing and Residence Education department. Creates complex and dynamic occupancy projections based on advanced industry knowledge and advanced understanding of domestic and international higher education application and admissions trends, student demand, and university enrollment. Manages a wide variety of highly complex projects of large scope, high visibility, and high institutional impact. Reporting to the Associate Director of Housing Administration, the Housing Occupancy Manager must be able to work autonomously, carryout heavy system reporting responsibilities to assist with data analysis, forecasting and response plans, and take the initiative to solve complex problems to meet the needs of our students. Has significant visibility across campus including but not limited to Strategic Enrollment Management, University Admissions, STEP, First Year Experience, Student Life Leadership and various college offices.
Determines methods to achieve goals in specific strategies and practices; assists with development and implementation of occupancy strategies to maximize the use of housing facilities; monitors and manages room assignments and reassignments throughout the academic year to understand the changing needs; identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; resolves recurring issues and problems as well as some unique situations; anticipates problems and develops recommendations for resolution; makes decisions and problem solves in all the processes managed; interprets both departmental and University policies and procedures when making decisions; uses discretion in the handling of sensitive student issues and situations; processes are diversified and require some creativity in dealing with unforeseen issues that may arise; works in a collaborative, cross-team capacity; demonstrates interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; explains and interprets information to constituents.

Required Experience
Bachelors degree in relevant field. Six years of full-time experience working in a college student housing program and/or related experience required. Familiarity with housing/occupancy information system. Ability using Microsoft Office software and standard office equipment. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively receive, interpret, and relay ideas, information and needs for internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
Masters degree in relevant field. Eight years or more of successful experience in the housing assignments area of a college student housing program. Extensive knowledge of StarRez or other housing occupancy management system. Experience developing housing occupancy management strategy. Experience with recruitment of students or staff. Understanding of housing accommodations under Americans with Disabilities Act and Fair Housing Act laws.
The targeted pay range for this position is $64,300-$84,550/annually.
