This position specifically supports the mission of the University by working within our Office of the Registrar to assist with Veterans Affairs in relation to the use of their educational benefits.
A bachelor's degree and less than one year of relevant work experience are required. Three years of relevant work experience is preferred.
Additional experience will be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
Advise veterans, their dependents, and active-duty military personnel on procedures for attaining and using veteran affairs educational benefits
Inform benefit recipients of program eligibility and documentation requirements and assists them in applying for education benefits
Collaborate with Student Accounts and Financial Aid to ensure appropriate changes are made to VA education benefit recipients' accounts and confirm account accuracy
Analyze and interpret new/pending legislation and information from the Veterans Administration pertaining to Veterans Educational Benefits
Liaise with campus offices and departments such as admissions, academic advising, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, One Stop, Baylor Bookstore, and VA, as needed to assist VA funded students
Certify student enrollment including verifying benefit status, reviewing courses to ensure they meet declared majors, tracking and reporting VA funding to the University, and counseling/advising students of discrepancies that may impact funding
Provide financial and academic advice to military-connected students regarding military educational benefits. Calculate relevant tuition and fees, reconcile monies paid to the University for VA education benefits, maintain records, including graduation, military-connected students enrolled each semester, grade reports, and compliance surveys
Provide excellent customer service to Veterans, active duty, and dependents assisting with resolving complaints related to discrepancies between the school, student, and VA
Attend state and VA conferences/trainings to increase and maintain knowledge assisting in the facilitation of compliance with federal and state legislation, rules, policies and procedures pertaining to VA funded student benefits
Collaborate and participate in activities in support of military connected community through New Student Programs and VETS Program
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission.
