Job Summary:
Eastern Washington University Department of Athletics is seeking a skilled and innovative Senior Athletics Academic Advisor. Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services, the Senior Athletics Academic Advisor will operate within a supportive team environment while assisting in creating, executing, and monitoring academic support programs to serve assigned student-athletes, from 14 sports, in accordance with NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and Eastern Washington University regulations. The successful applicant must have a demonstrated history of the ability to collaborate with constituents within the Athletics Department, campus constituents and with relevant external entities. Candidates for consideration are responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Athletics Academic Services area and alignment with the organizational goals of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Eastern Washington.
Responsibilities The successful candidate will assist in the implementation of student services, programs and activities supporting student-athlete academic success, retention and graduation. Programs may include academic enhancement, community engagement, career development and personal development. Candidate must be able to build relationships and collaborate with university student support offices to effectively utilize university resources for student-athletes success. Position assists the coaching staff in establishing and conducting sport-specific study programs and supervised study sessions for their respective athletes, communicates regularly with coaches, and tracks the academic progress of assigned student-athletes for NCAA eligibility and degree progress.

The salary for this position is $48,000 (minimum) up to $52,000. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in any field
One (1) year of experience in advising, student and/or student athlete learning support, tutoring, or related field
One (1) year of demonstrated experience in maintaining academic progress records and reports
One (1) year of experience in student and/or student athlete development programming and promoting DEIB initiatives
Demonstrated experience using professional and educational technology to assist students and/or student athletes
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, navigate complex situations, and manage multiple projects
Demonstrated ability in decision making, time management, problem identification and solving, reasoning, creativity, and innovativeness
Demonstrated commitment to DEI values and the promotion of inclusive working and learning environments
Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
One (1) year of NCAA Division I athletic program experience or2 years of full-time athletic department experience
Two (2) years of full-time experience in advising, student and/or student athlete learning support, tutoring, or related field
Two (2) years of demonstrated experience and understanding of advanced advising practices, learning support techniques, and university policies to support student athlete academic success
Two (2) years of experience in student athlete development programming including DEIJ affinity programs
Demonstrated experience and understanding of NCAA Bylaws, rules, and regulations including initial and continuing eligibility, APR, and GSR
Demonstrated ability to positively collaborate and create relationships with NCAA, Conference, and University stakeholders

Job Duties: Academic Programming and Support for Student Success:
Assist the Associate AD for Athletic Academic Success in the design and implementation of an in-depth academic services program that supports the academic needs of student athletes
Utilize advanced advising and learning support techniques to assist student athletes in course selection, course registration, course content, major declarations, and graduation processes
Utilize NCAA Bylaws, rules, and regulations to monitor eligibility and PTD requirements and for student athletes
Maintain accurate student athlete and SAAS academic records
Assist student-athletes in understanding EWU technology and learning management systems including but not limited to Canvas, EagleNet, DegreeWorks, and Navigate
Provide individualized academic support to student athletes on a daily, weekly, quarterly, and yearly basis
Communicate with coaches, athletic staff, and administrators regarding pertinent academic issues, academic progress, programming, and other relevant information that affects the comprehensive student athlete experience
Create relationships and collaborate with EWU campus departments, faculty, and staff to support and enhance the comprehensive experience of EWU student athletes
Coordinate time and objective based study hall requirements for each team
Assist the Associate AD for Athletic Academic Success and compliance staff with the transition of incoming student athletes to EWU
Promote the overall athletic academic support programming for all student-athletes
Maintain thorough knowledge of university, Big Sky Conference, and NCAA academic requirements
