Works closely with students throughout the admission and enrollment process.
Counsel students regarding financial aid programs; regularly interact with students and parents and follow up on missing or deficient information in person, by telephone, email, and chat.
Gathers information from students to understand and evaluate individual circumstances; interprets relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines to determine the best course of action.
Advises students on issues that will impact their placement, enrollment, and financial assistance including the potential effect of changes in their course load, withdrawal from their classes, and eligibility for a refund of tuition charges, as well as adherence to the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards policy and appeal process.
Provides computer navigation support to students utilizing a self-service student portal and other electronic tools.
Supports students in self-serve processing of course drop/adds, completing the admission application, signing up for College-sponsored workshops and events, accessing enrollment verifications, making tuition payments, resetting passwords, completing FAFSA applications, master promissory notes, entrance counseling, etc.
Helps with workshops and explains College admission processes, enrollment steps, and ongoing student service requirements.
Provides guidance to students on understanding their financial obligations and educating them on how to utilize federal, state, and third-party resources.
Participates in the planning, coordination, and implementation of recruitment and advising activities designed to attract and enroll new students
Customer Service
Provides comprehensive customer service in a high volume and challenging, fast-paced environment, resolving most issues on the spot and referring students to the appropriate department for further assistance as necessary.
Interprets and responds to student inquiries in-person, via the telephone and electronically regarding admissions, financial aid, registration and general college policies and procedures.
Facilitates engaging presentations, first semester course recommendations, financial aid support, and general support to new students and their families.
Provides information on course selection, prerequisite authorizations and other permissions needed for student registrations.
Provides guidance on department and campus processes.
Clerical
Tracks all activities, evaluates their effectiveness, and recommends outreach changes and improvements.
Scans documents, distributes, and processes mail, updates and orders admissions/registration publications/forms and various office supplies.
Maintains confidentiality of student records and other information

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
Attends all required departmental meetings and trainings.
Manages multiple assignments of varying complexity while meeting federal as well as internal regulations and procedures, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the College and business partners.
Hours may include working outside of a normal workweek schedule on an as needed basis.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED.
Three (3) years of clerical experience in the area of the assigned specialized function. *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.
Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8:00 am to 5 pm / Wednesday 10 - 7 / Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm
Columbus State Community College has been meeting the diverse educational needs of the Central Ohio community for more than 50 years. From the first graduating class in 1965 through this year, 50,000 students have earned associate degrees in 50-plus technical fields and academic transfer programs. Columbus State also offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degree programs whose coursework fulfills the freshman and sophomore year requirements for bachelor’s degree programs offered by four-year colleges and universities throughout the state. Specific transfer agreements with more than 40 colleges and universities are in place at Columbus State, and new direct-to degree partnership programs are being developed all the time. Columbus State now has two campuses serving Central Ohio educational needs. The Columbus Campus is located on 85 acres in downtown Columbus. The 108-acre, full-service Delaware Campus welcomed its first students in 2010. Additionally, Columbus State offers classes at nine convenient regional learning centers throughout Central Ohio.
