Position Summary:
We seek an energetic, approachable and experienced counselor who is passionate about working with college-aged and non-traditional students. The clinical counselor will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of ASU students within a Step Care Model serving both on-campus and online students who reside in the state of Colorado. Responsibilities will include providing a range of mental health services to address the diverse needs of our student population such as assisting in the daily operations of the Counseling Center, carrying a reasonable individual counseling caseload, developing and facilitating group therapy, and providing outreach and prevention programming.
Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)
The Clinical Counselor, who reports to the Director of Counseling Services, will work on a 10-month contract providing services during the academic year (August-May). These services include the following:
Assisting in the daily operations of the ASU Counseling Center
Conducting initial mental health assessments to determine the appropriate level of care
Using clinical judgment to triage and assign students to the appropriate level of care within the Step Care Model
Provision of culturally responsive mental health services
Providing short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention
Offering group therapy sessions and support groups for specific concern populations
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Collaborate with external providers when necessary for long-term and specialized care
Design and deliver educational programs and workshops on mental health topics
Collaborating with other campus departments to promote mental health awareness, wellness, and prevention efforts
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
MA/MS required in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
Licensure-eligible and hold a temporary licensure permit (LPCC or equivalent)
Minimum of one year of experience working directly with a college-aged student population
Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegially with employees, students, and the community
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensure in the State of Colorado LPC or LCSW
Experience and expertise in planning and implementing prevention and awareness activities on a college campus
Experience supervising clinicians-in-training and other staff
Demonstrate cultural competence in diverse student populations
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $46,692 - $59,520 (10-month contract to be paid over 12 months).
