Job Description:
The primary role of the Director is to direct the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), which is sponsored by New York State Department of Education. This program is for part-time students and is housed within the College of Professional Studies. The position is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the program, including but not limited to budget, grant compliance, marketing, recruitment, advising, student success, and administrative functions.

Responsibilities:

• Provide program leadership and oversee all aspects of the HEOP program for part-time students attending Syracuse University.
• Prepare, review and approve HEOP budget revenue projections, operating expenses and reports in compliance with State Education Department guidelines.
• Prepare and submit all required reports in association with HEOP grant.
• Market HEOP program to prospective part-time students.
• Recruit and interview prospective students, provide career advising, and evaluate academic records to determine admissibility to SU schools and colleges.
• Recommend alternate routes if not admissible at present time.
• Liaise with administration, faculty, and staff for up-to-date information and problem solving on behalf of HEOP students.
• Participate in College of Professional Studies strategic planning and leadership; Serve on appropriate University committees, taskforces, initiatives, etc. in support of part-time students/studies.
• Contribute to development of university policy related to HEOP students.
• Promote positive image of the University to the local community and to keep current on community resources available to students.
• Liaise with University administration, faculty, and staff for up-to-date information and problem solving on behalf of HEOP students.
• Other duties as assigned.
