Requirements
The Office of Global Education (OGE) facilitates undergraduate credit-bearing study abroad opportunities. Serving the Georgetown College of Arts & Sciences, the Walsh School of Foreign Service, the McDonough School of Business, the School of Health, the School of Nursing, and Georgetown University Qatar, we send approximately 1,000 students abroad a year to earn academic credit in over 45 countries.
The Associate Director of Georgetown-Administered Global Academic Programs is responsible for administering the strategy for and management of undergraduate Georgetown-Administered global academic semester and summer study abroad programs, including Georgetown University in Florence - Villa le Balze (VLB) and Faculty-Led programs. The Associate Director plays a key leadership role in the unit's academic engagement including the advancement and support of faculty/department/school global initiative efforts, the integration of undergraduate curriculum in residentially taught coursework abroad, and assessment around program quality and global learning outcomes for programs under the position's purview. Duties include but are not limited to:
Direct the development and outreach, management, administration, and assessment of Georgetown-Administered Global Academic Programs (i.e Georgetown in Florence: Villa Le Balze, Faculty-Led programs).
Facilitate faculty engagement, outreach, coordination, and training with program directors, department chairs, college/school deans, and staff/administrators.
Coordinate student support and services strategies for assigned programs, including integration with the broader OGE team's student advising strategies, managing student inquiries and issues, cooperating with campus partners, and collaborating on robust risk management protocols and emergency response.
Provide staff supervision and management for professional and paraprofessional staff members under the position's purview.
Share in OGE's goal to deliver programs and services that promote student development, well-being, and engagement while building an inclusive global community that seeks to address inequities so every student can thrive.
Represent Georgetown, OGE, and global education in institutional, national, and international forums to advance global learning and internationalization efforts.
Work Interactions
An academic unit under the Office of the Provost, the Office of Global Education (OGE) has a direct impact on the international character and identity of the university by providing access to academic instruction and exchange around the world. Global education is among the top priorities at Georgetown and significantly impact the University's reputation and ability to recruit excellent students, professors, and researchers. Over half of the university's undergraduates participate in education abroad programs at some point during their academic careers. Reporting to the Director of Global Education, the Associate Director of Georgetown-Administered Global Academic Programs (Associate Director) plays a key leadership role in the unit's academic engagement efforts including advancement and support of institutional and faculty internationalization efforts. The Associate Director assists with leading strategic planning initiatives and establishes goals and objectives for OGE in collaboration with the Director and other unit leaders. The incumbent manages the Georgetown-Administered Global Academic Programs team, which includes assigned staff member(s), and works closely with other OGE and Georgetown colleagues (e.g., Villa Le Balze Resident Director, OGE Associate Director of Finance & Business, OGE Assistant Director of Operations & Administration, etc.) in the administration and delivery of programs under their purview.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred from an accredited institution in a relevant field (higher education administration, public administration, international education)
Minimum of 3-5 years direct work experience with study abroad or academic program development
Experience in higher education and with international programs, including budgets, policy and procedures, and program management
Experience working with students, including student program management, student-advising, and/or student outreach
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment, to carry out multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a timely manner with a high level of attention to detail, organization, and planning, and to use initiative, apply discretion, and adapt to changing situations and priorities
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
Experience managing or assisting faculty-directed programs, teaching abroad, or similar types of programs
Substantial academic program management experience and experience supervising staff
Experience in global education operations, pedagogy, and assessment
Previous experience in a widely diverse work, community or volunteer environment which demonstrates commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
Familiarity with student development, experiential learning, and/or intercultural development theory and practice
Familiarity with the Forum on Education Abroad's Standards for Best Practice in Education Abroad
Experience working with institutional and international partners and providers
Extensive experience working, studying, or traveling abroad, with personal study abroad experience
Experience using Terra Dotta software and other relevant software (Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, Banner, CourseLeaf)
Ability and willingness to work some evening and/or weekend events

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
