MCCC Unit Professional position, Grade 4
Primary Location: Lynn Campus (with the expectation to travel to Danvers as needed); 4 days on site, 1 day remote.
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, benefited position
SALARY RANGE: Anticipated starting salary is $60,730.00 - $64,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The SUCCESS Fund was established for community colleges to provide wraparound support and services with the goal of increasing persistence and attainment rates and improving outcomes for targeted student populations. The position will work closely with the Director of Career Services and Experiential Learning, the Assistant Dean of Academic & Student Development, the Director of the SUCCESS Fund Initiative and the Academic Deans to implement a broad range of career exploration and planning services such as career development workshops, administering and interpreting career assessments, providing faculty and professional advisors the tools to effectively work with students on career exploration and planning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist RISE students with career exploration and planning coordinated with their pathway at each stage of their progress through the College.
Assist with retention and completion of RISE students by utilizing their student plan in Navigate to degree completion and realize the benefits of credential attainment.
Assist students in identifying courses to support their career exploration by providing classroom based opportunities to explore career interests, gain knowledge, and develop skills that will prepare them to work in their field of interest (Contextualized FYE courses, Contextualized Introductory Courses, gateway courses, and PRO100, 1 credit career portfolio course) .
Work with Admissions and Recruitment, Orientation and Advising staff to integrate career exploration and major exploration opportunities into the on-boarding process. Utilize the Navigate survey tools and reporting functions to identify cohorts of students needing additional support.
Design and deliver career exploration and development workshops and orientation sessions for all students within 30 credits by providing career assessment and case management services for students who need assistance identifying or clarifying their academic goals.
Assists the College in identifying, implementing, and promoting the use of career exploration, skill assessment, and job search tools (Navigate features, Handshake, etc.).
Collaborate with the Career Services Team in matching RISE students with internships, work-study opportunities, and on-campus employment opportunities that align with their career goals. Assist students in the utilization of financial planning tools.
Collaborate with RISE Advisors to provide customized career exploration activities to the RISE students.
Assist with the planning and implementation of a NSCC Career Exploration Fair and other efforts to assist current students and graduates with meaningful and relevant career opportunities.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of the labor market locally and nationally.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Creative problem-solving abilities and commitment to providing excellent customer service to a diverse population needs.
Available to work a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and/or evenings. The ability to travel between Lynn and Danvers campuses as needed to serve students.
Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Counseling or related field such as Career Advising, Human Services, or Higher Education.
Strong knowledge of the community college system working with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
Familiarity with Workforce Career Centers
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong technology skills and knowledge of various technological systems such as Customer Relation Management and Student Information Systems.
