Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center (MHSVMC) is the critical care regional referral and teaching center within the Bon Secours Mercy Health system, a faith-based system serving seven states. Over the course of this program, residents will refine their skills in patient care, leadership, practice management and teaching through active participation in multidisciplinary rounding, code teams and various committees. Residents will serve as co-preceptors for pharmacy students and PGY 1 residents on clinical rotations and have the opportunity for didactic lectures as well as a teaching certificate at the University of Findlay. Critical care areas include burn, surgical, neurological, trauma, medical, cardiac, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, as well as emergency medicine and infectious disease.
The pharmacy department at MHSVMC serves a diverse patient population as a Level I Trauma Center, regional burn referral center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a children’s hospital onsite. Preceptors are actively engaged in helping each resident meet their full potential based on their specific areas of interest. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based medicine, leadership, and patient safety.
Other unique program aspects include a teaching program in collaboration with the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy and certifications in adult as well as pediatric advanced cardiac life support.
