JOB SUMMARY
Using knowledge and skills as a Student Services professional, performs the full range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life specialization. Assesses situations and determines appropriate action or referral. Works independently under supervision to provide information and interpretation of complex policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifies and responds to student needs for programs, services, and crisis intervention.
Working under the supervision of the Redwood Free Market and Basic Needs Hub Director, the Basic Needs Operations Coordinator serves as a resource for students experiencing varying degrees of need and/or distress. The Basic Needs Operations Coordinator will assist students with CalFresh and food access, coordinate and advise the operations of the Redwood Free Market, and support administrative projects supporting the Redwood Free Market and Basic Needs programs. The Basic Needs Operations Coordinator works both independently and in close collaboration with key Basic Needs programs on campus to identify and intervene as early as possible with students who may benefit from basic needs and other support services. The incumbent coordinates operations at Redwood Free Market and campus-wide basic needs programming.

Budgeted Salary:$25.77 - $30.22 / Hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. JOB DUTIES
60% - Redwood Free Market Program Coordination
Assists in coordination of CalFresh Application assistance program, which may include assisting students with the CalFresh application process, creating and maintaining tracking of CalFresh application submissions and enrollments, supporting application assistance providers.
Supports programs and outreach around issues of food access.
Serves as professional operations supervisor to the Redwood Free Market, which includes training students, staff, and volunteers, preparing budgets, creating and implementing procedures, ordering and inventory management.
Maintains Redwood Free Market budget and assures funds are being allocated correctly and efficiently.
Coordinates all operations (i.e., stocking, inventory, student staffing, etc.) in relation to the Redwood Free Market.
Acts as direct supervisor to a portion of Redwood Free Market student staff (1-3) assigned to support the pantry operations. Provides general direction, training, and supervision as needed to CalFresh student staff.
Creates free basic needs security workshops and programming out of the Redwood Free Market to educate students, faculty, and the greater Santa Cruz community.
May drive university vehicle to perform tasks in support of the Redwood Free Market.
20% - Basic Needs Campus Support
Engages with faculty, academic staff, and colleagues in departments such as the Colleges, Financial Aid, Housing, EOP, STARS, Student Business Services, the Resource Centers, and others to advocate on behalf of students and to seek resolutions for basic needs issues being faced by students.
Engages with community resources and social service agencies to identify resources that are available for students in distress.
Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders critical to program success.
Assists the Director of Basic Needs in long-range planning and provides recommendations for changes and development of new basic needs program activities and services.
Supports Director of Basic Needs with research and administrative projects, such as reporting related to basic needs programming, creating tracking systems, spreadsheets, marketing flyers, and updating websites.
Maintains complete, accurate, and timely record keeping to ensure compliance with uniform documentation and charting guidelines, as well as Federal, State, and other local laws.
15% - Research and Evaluation
Supports data analysis and research evaluation for the purpose of conference presentations and publications, establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations and state/local agencies.
Recommends changes to program policies, processes, and procedures.
5% - Other Duties
Completes special projects as assigned.
May supervise clerical and/or student staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
