GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Academic Advisor provides direct academic coaching support to students with and without disabilities in the grant-funded Advantage (TRIO Student Support Services) Program during the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Provide academic coaching in the Advantage Program.
Assist students in developing studying and learning strategies.
Refer students to additional Advantage Program and campus resources to support their learning needs.
Consult with Advantage team, instructors, and O'Neill Center for Student Access and Support regarding academic support for individual students.
Document student contact per grant guidelines.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in learning disabilities, education, counseling, student services, or related discipline.
College-level experience, preferably in a community college, providing academic advising, tutoring, student support services, or in related student affairs.
Knowledge of teaching or tutoring techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior work experience with students with disabilities.
Experience in TRIO or another comprehensive student support program.
Knowledge of instructional and/or adaptive technology.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $32.64 per hour for up to 6 hours per week during the academic year. Grant-funded, part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position. Appointment renewal subject to grant funding.
